Overview
Worked alongside the structural engineering team in Sheffield. Working on many ongoing projects, assisting with many different elements that required designing. Hand calculations and software usage to required design guides.
Skills
Competent in hand calculations, drawings and specialised structural engineering software. GSA, Tekla Tedds
Responsibilities
I felt I was given sufficient responsibility to challenge myself whilst also having the security of many others to ask for advice.
Support & Guidance
I feel the amount of support and guidance I was given whilst at my placement was exceedingly good. Everyone was so willing to donate their time to helping and also gave insightful and useful answers.
Culture
Although due to COVID the office was quieter than usual, the atmosphere around the office was very positive and morale was high. It created a comfortable and productive work environment.
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Arup.
Yes
Although the application process may be long, it was well worth the time and effort I put into my application. It was definitely a worthy investment in the long run.
