Day to day I spent most of the time using SQL and C# to product modules and customer-specific reports and tasks. Time is also spent speaking with customers, answering queries and resolving issues they may have. I also code review work and complete pull requests, as well as testing any changes I've made.
I've developed my C# and SQL skills throughout the placement greatly, as most of the day is spent doing either of the two. Communication skills have also increased due to working with customers and talking to other colleagues. I've also learnt new skills with LINQ and more in terms of the development process.
I was given a lot of responsibility throughout the placement, and I never felt as only a placement student but rather a core member of the teams I was in, given large tasks with big impacts on the system. I also had a lot of responsibly for emailing customers and showing changes we've made.
Help was always there when needed and nobody would turn away when I had a question. I had meetings arranged with my project lead's and project managers to ensure I was doing OK and to receive feedback
The company culture and atmosphere was very welcoming and friendly. Everybody was helpful and kind, always having time for any questions I had.
I highly enjoyed my placement year, all of the work was extremely interesting and challenging, and was rarely left bored or unsure of the work to do. I never felt under extreme pressure and always received support when needed
Yes
Don't be afraid to ask for help if you need it. Also try to push yourself with the work you're given, taking on more challenging tasks to learn as much as you can before returning to university
