    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Excellent, as involved and connected as it could be in the virtual working from home environment.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Incredibly, as a Placement Student you are by definition the least experienced person in the room, but your ideas and contributions are considered on par with your colleagues, whether you talk to a director or another placement student

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My line manager is fantastic, supportive and conscious of what I want to achieve in my time at the Bank as well as what I can do for them.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Acceptably busy, its a challenging environment but that is good for learning as much as possible in the short time you have with them - which worked great for me.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I have in the first three months lead work that I was able to start and complete then present to senior management, engaging collaboratively with people at all levels

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Its a chance to practically apply the hard and soft skills learned at university, which in turn builds those skills further to aid in your final year of study.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Professional but supportive and fun

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Induction Process was slow due to online working, but it was acceptable

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Always time for training, explanation and giving me time to understand and digest. Couldn't ask for any more.

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Company Parties/Events

    Above 25 days holiday

    Working from home

    Travel loan

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Hope to land the grad scheme, its there if I work to get it!

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Hard to tell because we are WFH.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Was able to live with my parents and commute. For those who couldnt, london is incredibly expensive!

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Lockdown, enough said!

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • I'm on the social committee and ensuring there are opportunities to socialise even online
