    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • The Licensed Leisure department were very welcoming and I genuinely enjoyed my time with them. I was involved with various tasks (both office based and going to various pub locations). The ability to go on site visits was particularly rewarding as it emphasised the dynamic nature of the industry. Most importantly, the summer scheme being in-person (as opposed to online) massively benefited me as it was great to see how i would operate in an office.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • 3/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • Having two (mentors?) a similar age to me was particularly insightful and allowed me to ask questions that I would not necessarily ask at a higher level. Their recent experiences with going through summer schemes/ training meant that I could ask them question which they could answer with their recent experiences. The HR department were supportive and I really enjoyed the Zoom meetings we had with departmental overviews which allowed me to gain further exposure to what Savills do.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Coming into the summer scheme I previously had no experience in the Real Estate industry. The range of tasks that I was asked to do enabled me to develop skills as well as exposed me to a department which I did not know much about. This experience has definitely encouraged me to continue with my studies and apply to a RICS accredited masters degree. Learning about the next steps to become a Chartered Surveyor from a recent graduate was particularly helpful.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The summer scheme was particularly well structured from the beginning of the application to the actual week spent in the office. The HR team managed to provide clear structure so that I always knew what was going on in the process of applying and the weeks leading up to the scheme. The department I was working in mentioned that they did not usually have work placement students, however, I always had a task to be completing.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere in the office was very friendly and as mentioned I appreciated being in the office massively as it allowed me to feel part of the team and wider office space. It would have been nice to have more interaction with the other interns, who are at a similar point in their career journey, however, I understand due to corona restrictions this is not necessarily possible.

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?

  • Yes. This summer scheme week has been beneficial in both further understanding the Real Estate industry and how Savills operates as a leader in this sector. The ability to be on client calls as well as various other tasks illustrated what a career at Savills would look like.
