    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • This week has been really insightful and I am very grateful for the opportunity to take part in real life projects and find out more about the filed in general. It is a shame we could not be here for a month. The department I was placed in is not something I have thought I would go into; However, during this week I have changed my mind and definitely opened a whole new opportunity for my personal future development.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • The team I was put in was very welcoming and made sure I was busy throughout the scheme. I think that many of the colleges have been on the graduate program and they could understand my situation and how I feel so they made sure I was comfortable with what I did and I could do all the tasks. We had a team lunch where I had the chance to talk to more from the people in the team especially the grad people.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • My team was really helpful, answered all the questions I had and encouraged me to ask for more. I also had the chance to speak to some people from other departments which helped me understand their roles. During the first day, I was given a document which described the just of the department and what they do. I think this was the time when I learned the most amount of new information and had the chance to answer my question from professionals.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • all of the tasks I competed are relevant to my course at uni. the skills I learned such as how to use different online sources such as Molior and Lonres are all essential kills which I have not used before. Affordable housing, section 106 and viability are all part of the syllabus and it was really insightful to learn and see how they are applied in real life. I was lucky to learn what are the type of instructions the team receives and the clients they deal with.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The insight was well structured and organised. the zoom meetings with the different departments gave a good structure of my day and the rest of my tasks. Within the department I was given tasks which were connected with one other which also helped structure the overall experience during the week. although I understand that in a week time it difficult to fit more things to do, I believe the amount of work and meeting was well balanced.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere was really inspiring. Everyone is working so hard but it does not feel stressful as everyone is doing what they enjoy (or at least this is how is looks like from distance). It was great to see so many young and ambitious people in n place during such weird times. Everyone was really friendly and polite but also professional. The insight has definitely met all my expectations and even exceeded them. I could not have imagined to learnt so much in only one week.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • I have understood how the grad scheme works and he different paths one may chose to do. The department I am in is definitely one that I would like to continue exploring and learning more about tin the future. I believe that I would not have chosen this otherwise as it is not something I knew a lot about in the past. I know more about the APC process and how apply for the grad scheme.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • I believe for the one week experience I took part in it was more a learning process rather than a doing work I should be paid for. This is why I believe I think the reimbursement thing is enough. I am satisfied and happy to learn and be part of the insight even if I am not gating paid. My lunch was covered and the site visit I went to as well which I think is enough.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • not many during this time, however, I went to a pub nearby with a few of my colleagues from my team. It was great to go out and talk about differ

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • 4/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • During this time in 2020 it i difficult to get involved in extra things. I imagine during the lock down some of the teams did online quizzes which really helped the teams o get to know each other better and have the chance to do something exciting and fun. I head that during normal times some of the people do sports together and there is a music band -this is how one of my colleges met this future wife.

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I would most definitely recommend the insight to anyone interested in the field. i have learned so much, met so many new people and this is only in one week.
