    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed my placement at Intel and found the job responsibilities really interesting and unique. I was given lots of projects to be involved with and found the intern culture really helpful throughout the year. I was able to put what I have learnt in university into a practical setting and it was really interesting to learn about a different side of marketing, through such a big company. Overall, I really enjoyed my placement year.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt very valued by my team and interns. Everyone was very welcoming and encourages you to develop. Also, having other interns around you made the transition to working a lot easier. Working in bigger and smaller teams, allowed me to adjust my approach throughout, however everyone I came across at Intel was friendly and always happy to help. You were always encouraged to ask any questions you need that could help you develop yourself.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given lots of support, through regular meetings and developed a lot throughout my year. I was always able to ask questions if unsure and given real responsibilities during my internship. Working on a bigger team, meant that all managers were available to help and give support. They were interested in your passions, and able to match that up to a project you could get involved with. I thought I developed a lot through the year, through the support and guidance.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was always busy with something to do, during peek times I had to learn to organise and sort commitments, which was great to learn. But your responsibilities cover a lot and there are extra things to do inside the intern community. I found it easy to speak to staff if you were very quiet and wanted more work, or if you ever thought there was too much. They adjusted to approach and made sure you were happy.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given lots of responsibility and I was working on really interested projects throughout my placement year at Intel. Whenever something came up, I was involved with the whole process and able to develop my knowledge through these projects. I felt valued that my work was important, and I believe that is very important. Also, having to handover your job role was really interested and shows you how far you've come over the year.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I believe doing a placement at Intel has really helped develop many skills, including communication, team work and problem solving. As well as other skills like Excel, which are very important. I have also been given a experience of practical skills which has allowed me transfer what I have learnt in university to a work place. I think my placement has set me up well for working in the future and developed many skills along the way.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • I found the office atmosphere really nice. Having a big team and other interns around me was really helpful whenever I had important questions. Everyone was always willing to help and open to answer anything you needed to know. I was also provided with all the equipment I needed to perform my job well, and found the office really nice to work in. As well as the good atmosphere around with all the interns there.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I found the placement very organised. Through the application stage to getting the job, everything was organised and simple and easy to follow. When I started everything was very organised during my first week and having handover when you have another intern helping you, ensured I settled into the role and company really well. Overall, i found the whole set up very organised and well done with the amount of interns coming into site for the year.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I was able to take lots of training to help me develop and the company was open to interns growing and developing. I was also able to shadowing other departments I was interested in and explore different avenues. I got regular feedback meetings, meaning I knew if I was on track and was able to show the work I have done, so my manager was updated with my progress though the placement year at Intel.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I believe Intel would be a great returning company and successful interns will often be offered jobs back in the company. After university and getting a graduate job can be stressful so having a job from your internship can be rewarding. It is great Intel offers placements to as many students as they do, as this creates a great atmosphere where everyone knows each other and gets involved in little social events the interns plan

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The Intern community creates a great social scene on site and we all get involved with planning different social event we enjoy. As there are so many interns this can help with the transition between university and work. Which is great. I found relocating easy as I had interns around me I could turn to. Also the team itself will plan social events and I really enjoyed all of them throughout my placement year at Intel .

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I found the cost of living really cheap compared to other places and like I said having other interns there made the process great. The living cost was also cheap and we were walk able from work, which was good. We were also close to shops and the train station, which I found really helpful. So overall the cost of living and socializing was good in the area I worked in during my placement year at Intel

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The nightlife was good and we enjoyed it as interns. There was plenty going on there, like shops, cafe, restaurants and clubs. • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • As interns you can get involved with different committees. I got involved with volunteering and encouraging local schools to get involved with STEM activities. It was nice to do this separate to my day job and I really enjoyed it You are encouraged to try different things and its all amazing opportunities you can add to your CV and say you have done when you have finished your placement at Intel, so there is really lots to do.
