    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I was a bit scared at first because you don't apply for a specific position they kind of choose it for you. The one they chose for me was a perfect fit and i loved every moment of it.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I was the only intern based in Edinburgh so it was hard for me to socialize with all my colleagues down in Reading. But i felt like a part of the team within the Edinburgh office.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I would say half and half my manager changed halfway through and i went from a manager which didn't pay a whole lot attention to one that paid so much attention and always wanted to help. So in the first 6 months i always had my team and they had my back and helped with everything i needed help with

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Some days i would have 1 or 2 meetings lined up. Other days i would be so busy i won't have the time to take a breath. The job and the company are very fast paced so keep that in mind when applying

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was the one and only MTC representative for the whole Edinburgh office. I tool responsibility for the room and presented sessions and helped out on 3rd party sessions. I was also the point person for IT( which involved patching cables for the corp network)

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I would say they assisted greatly. They gave me an idea of who i am and what i want to do. I got to sit plenty of microsoft certified exams and i was free to explore any aspect of Technology. From networking to programming to selling. We had the freedom to explore other roles which made me learn so so much.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Fun ,Friendly and very professional

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I can say there were a few things that needed to be handled before 5he interns started. As the only intern based in another office there was no onboarding prepared for me and no one had thought how am i going to do my role if i haven't been onboarded. There was problems with attending intern events because of budget so that is definitely something to work on

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Anything i wanted to try i was free to do so. I did 2 microsoft certified fundamentals exam and will be doing another 2 this week. You're open to explore any topic that might interest you which is the best part.

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes definitely i can't say every intern was my best friend as there was so many of us. But it was a very open and social cohort and they were fun to work with most of the time

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Since i live in Glasgow i would say it is cheaper than it would be in Reading so make sure you prepare for that. When we attended the introduction day however they did make a list of all the people that are looking for housing and kind of grouped up together in houses of 4 or 5 at the end.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Both in glasgow and reading plenty of places to go

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes, we get 3 days to go and volunteer as a part of our holiday and we also have plenty of partner companies that regularly invite us to exite days, conferences etc.
