    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • Everyone in the office made exceptional effort to insure interns found the experience enjoyable. From inviting interns to lunch and coffee breaks to after work social events. The Deloitte working environment is serious yet suitably relaxed and fun.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • When tasks were given by senior team members, the task was always explained thoroughly with emphasis on why you were being asked to do the task, what you should aim to achieve and why this was necessary and helpful. Fully understanding the purpose of tasks allows you to understand the importance of completing it well and the positive input your work has on the wider team. Comprehensive feedback was given for all tasks which added value to each task. I was always thanked for my contribution and updated on how my work proved helpful.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • The management structure for the Deloitte SVS scheme was very successful in providing support and guidance. You are assigned a line manager who formally assesses your progress, as well as a work place "buddy" who acts as an informal mentor. You meet with both your manager and buddy regularly. I found that both individuals were genuinely interested in my progress and willing for me to succeed. Everyone is certainly on your side. Every colleague I worked with at Deloitte, whether unvolved in the SVS program or not, wanted to help. Often I needn't have to ask for it. I found that colleagues were happy to go out of their way to support you if they could. This was exceptionally valuable in enabling me to confidently complete work with the support and encouragement of senior team members.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I learnt more about Real Estate and planning (my chosen service line) in 4 weeks than I have in 4 years of university. I am currently completing a master's degree. The experience at Deloitte has definitely improved my knowledge and skillset, which are proving useful on the course. However, I feel the SVS has prepared me so well for a professional working environment that I am now particularly excited to complete the masters and enter the workplace as soon as possible.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The SVS was exceptionally well structured with a suitable amount of tasks planned for interns. I was always busy but never overwhelmed. The tasks were balanced with educational experiences. I thought Deloitte made exceptional effort to educate us, at their expense, during the scheme. For example out of office field trip visits and talks from industry professionals.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Fun and engaging throughout. I am very grateful for all the effort put in by everyone at Deloitte. I understand that colleagues were often sacrificing valuable working hours to ensure we had a valuable and enjoyable experience. I was very surprised at the above and beyond attitude of everyone I had the pleasure of working with and learning from.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Although not immediately relevant to the SVS scheme, we were given very insightful guidance on future professional qualifications and processes we will face in the future. Deloitte seemed particularly invested in providing guidance beyond the SVS scheme with brilliant career advice be it with Deloitte or another firm.

    5/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The SVS is an intense 4 week full time position. By the end of the placement I was very tired (pathetically), but sure I wanted a full time roll at Deloitte in the future.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Working at Deloitte for 4 weeks definitely enabled me to understand the culture. I found the workplace particularly inclusive and encouraging.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Very. The SVS scheme confirmed that I want to work as a Real Estate consultant post graduation. To work for a company like Deloitte would be the goal.

    5/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • The SVS pays well. This was particularly good for me as I needed to earn money for the next year of university and was concerned that doing an internship would be at the expense of part time work and being able to save for uni.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Regular social events and cross departmental working provided good opportunities for networking.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • Weekly social events were organised, for example to welcome us at the beginning of the SVS and as a farewell at the end.

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Deloitte has a wide range of sporting teams and charity involvement that are are popular amongst staff.

    5/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Absolutely. I would recommend the SVS to anyone. It was the most valuable learning experience I have had.
