    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed the placement as I believe that it really let me gain a valuable insight to the industry and Deloitte as a whole. The client work that I completed on a daily basis was challenging but enjoyable, allowing me to really throw myself in at the deep end.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt very valued by all colleagues that I came into contact with during my placement. From day one I was treated as a proper member of the team that I was part of. Furthermore, I also felt that the work I was doing was making a real impact on the overall project objectives.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • From the outset I felt truly well supported by all of the supervisors on my project. They set me very clear objectives and were more than happy to explain things to me if I needed additional help or clarity. All in all they went above and beyond what I could have expected.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I felt that I was busy most of the time on the placement, but not overly so. I believe that the balance was perfect, as it allowed me to do other things on my placement, such as explore the different sides of the company and talk to employees in other departments.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Due to the nature of the project that I was on, it would have been hard for me to hold lots of responsibility. However, I was allowed to completely manage my own time and schedule during the placement, which gave me a lot of personal responsibility. Overall, I was happy.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills that I learned during the time on my placement will be invaluable to me for a long time. For example, I greatly developed my presentation skills to a level that I could not have imagined before starting the placement. I also developed my communication skills which are a great help during my degree.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The general atmosphere at the Deloitte office was extremely positive and it would have been a struggle to find anyone negative! I felt that I really fit in and it was a perfect atmosphere to do productive work. The client site office was a little more dull, but I understand that Deloitte has no control over this!

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The organisation of the work placement was second to none, which was largely down to the wonderful work done by the scheme leads. From day one I felt that there was a clear pathway of what was to be achieved and learnt during the scheme and I was supported all the way,

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I could not imagine the firm possibly investing any more in their interns than they already do. The amount of time that was spent making sure the interns were being trained properly was huge. Certain members of the firm even ran training sessions for the interns to help us learn more!

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    National Travel

    Above 25 days holiday

    Working from home

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • They are very appealing because I believe that the training at this company is second to none. The atmosphere is a perfect working atmosphere and one that I could see myself thriving in on a long term basis. I am delighted that I will start working for Deloitte after my time at university.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There was a weekly social allowing the interns to get to know each other better, really helping us all to gel as a group during our time there. The social scene with colleagues as a whole was good, as we got opportunities to attend events with the whole of our departments.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Due to the fact that the office is centrally placed in London, it was expensive to live within a stones throw from work. Socialising was equally expensive, however there were many socials where the interns did not have to pay. This allowed people to take part despite the high prices.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The nightlife in the area that I worked was pretty good. The area is a very busy business district so there were a lot of places to go out to after work. There was a real buzz around the area in the evening, with things such as karaoke bars only a stones throw away.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • We were also encouraged to reach out to people that ran certain societies or groups at work and try and participate as much as possible. Although, this was quite difficult as it was quite hard to become part of something due to the short length of the scheme (5 weeks).
