  • i was give a lot of support from everyone on my team and even people on other teams when i asked for it. people we're very open and always made time and helped me when i needed it. i never felt alone. even when they were out of office i was still able to contact them at any time of the day.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • i was always given enough work that would last for the day. whenever i finished the work early there was always something else i could do. for example i was give tasks to do if i had spare time. so if i finished my main project for the day early, i could carry on with the spare time jjobs rather than twiddeling my thumbs.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • They helped to build upon the experience which i gained at university. this placement allowed me to understand and participate in industry standard work rather than only academic style work. This was very good and a great learning curve to go through. It was very important and fun to do.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Very friendly. people were always open to help and we're very friendly. They always involved in in social activities. i felt like a part of the team which felt good. People always asked me if i wanted a drink or snacks when they went to the kitchen. people would also make sure and take time out of their day to make sure that i was okay.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very well. on my first day everything was set up for me. i was shown around the office before i started. i was able to get coffee with people before i started as well which was good. i was eased into the work, where everything was explained to me properly. for example if i was working on a large project i would be brought to one side before i started the work, and the background of the project would be explained so i wasnt blindly going into something that i didnt understand. Overall it was very good and clearly thought through.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Very very very. i would jump at the chance to work for this company. they look after their staff very well and dont push them to hard. the benefits for full time staff are also amazing. It feels like the company really care about the welfare of their staff. the working time is also very flexible which is very important when it come to ecology for especially when a bat survey need to be carried out. it means that if a survey is conducted at 2am, there is no pressure to come in at 9am the same morning. This company really seems like the perfect place tio work. The perfect type of work, the perfect work load, the perfect hours, benefits and people!

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There were no other placement students/people in the area where i was. but the full time staff were very sociable with me. always inviting me out with them for both work organised outings and non work organised social activities. I feel like i've made some good friends which i hope to keep in contact with.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • cost of living was fine as i stayed at my usual house since the organisation was very close. socialising was always affordable and people were considerate over money. overall the cost was fine. often areas which we would go to for socialisation were up for recommendations so everyone could chip in ideas and reasons for places.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The night life is great. It is a place that is notorious for a great night life. There is a wide range of activities to do and a wide range of bars, pubs and clubs. there are cheap places, good places for a sit down, good places for a dance, and more high end fancy places to pick from depending on what kind of night out people might fancy, there is something for everyone.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes. I would often be invited out for social events such as going to the pub, going to peoples houses for BBQ's, and other social activities. Even now that i have left i have still been invited to some outings with people from work. very social place and people. very good.
