    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I have really enjoyed my placement, I think the way in which the Savills central office run the internship is great. I think spending a week with a different department is a great idea as gives you an overview of what the company offers and on the whole ment that your would have a enough work load to complete.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Overall I feel that most people have gone out of their way to make me feel welcome and include my in things such as work social events or days out of the office. I do feel on a whole the directors are more welcoming and seem more interested in my than some of the graduates.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • As I have been in 4 departments I have felt that in 3/4 departments I have been given lots of support and the person responsible for me has been great and allowed me to get the most out of my time with them. In 1 of the departments it was a little frustrating as at times I felt the person in charge of me wasn't that interested in me.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • For the majority of days I have had a lot to do which has been great. The central summer scheme tasks and talks has meant that for the majority of time I have had stuff to do even if my team haven't had anything for me to get on with. The days out on site have also been good to keep busy.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a decent amount of responsibility which I really liked as I felt that I am helping the team in a certain way. When I have been in a smaller team for a week I have been given more responsibility which ive loved as gives a great insight to what it would be like if I worked here full time.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have spent a lot of time working on excel and im sure these will be very helpful in the last year of my degree. I have also had access to quite a few industry related it IT programmes and software which i'm sure I will be using in the future.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • In there office there was a great social atmosphere and I think the fact that there were a lot of graduates and young professionals gave the office a real energy. The open plan layout of the desks also allowed socializing and mixing between departments which I really liked and is a office I would like to work in the future.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I think it was very well organised. The central tasks and talks were very well done allowing the regional offices to get a very similar experience to those in London. The online system provided lots of information and before I had started I had lots of information on what I would be up to which was great to get an idea before I started and made me less nervous.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I got a good amount of training in the software I would be using for the week in the departments I was with. The online web talks were great in the development aspect as they allowed me to get an insight into departments I didn't come into contact with during the working day.

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Parties/Events

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • The company has a large graduate recruitment programme and I will 100% be applying to this. After speaking to people in the office it seems many of their first steps into this company was the internship programmer I have completed so I am optimistic about the future with this company.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes, there was a great social scene and I went out for drinks after work with colleagues a couple of times which I really enjoyed. I was also taken out for lunch by one of the teams I was with which really made me feel welcome. I also attended a networking event one afternoon which was good to meet other people in the industry outside the office.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I was completing the internship in the city where I go to university so I had already signed my lease for the year, so it didn't really cost me much at all to complete the placement. The social scene was the price of what you would expect for any major city.

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • They nightlife seemed very vibrant and a one of the bars we went to was full of people from the industry which was great to network.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes here was a great socializing scene and the company as a whole seemed to offer lots of activities such as run runs, sports events and days out.
