    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • i thoroughly enjoyed my placement year and would highly recommend it to anyone who was considering doing one. The experience i have gained here could not be replicated from just being at university. I have seen first hand how a large corporation runs

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Since day 1, i have felt valued by colleagues. As many of them have been interns themselves they treat you as they want to be treated. You are not seen as someone of less value but as someone who can add value to the team through fresh thinking and new ideas

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given a personal mentor who i would meet with weekly to voice my concerns and any other business. This helped me massively because, without the mentor i would have not voiced my opinions due to not knowing which person to tell these problems to. My manager/mentor have constantly looked for areas for me to grow which has helped me undertake a variety of experiences

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • as I worked in sales the workload was not constant, this is part of the job though, finding new tasks to do and keeping up motivation are skills that i have worked on this year to stay busy and keep adding value to the team

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • i was given more responsibility than I ever thought i would be given. My team trusted me 100% and i hope i proved them right. I attended a variety of external events meeting customers and promoting the organisation sometimes as the only representative too. If you prove you can be trusted they will constantly give you more responsibility

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills i have gained from a year in placement have been invaluable. I have met with industry experts on a daily basis and learnt from the best i can take this leading knowledge into my studies. It has gave me my basis for my dissertation and i would have struggled to find a topic without these skills

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere in the office was not as vibrant as i expected but being part of a sales team means they are out the majority of the week meeting customers so there wasnt much time together

    2/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The placement was organised seamlessly. At times i forgot i was on placement, it felt like i was a full time employee. There was so many opportunities for growth and experience

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • there are opportunities to be hired back, this meant that they invest in you as a potential re-hire. they want to push you to see what you can do to ensure they have the right candidate for the job.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Sports and Social Club

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    International Travel

    Financial Bonus

    Company Parties/Events

    Above 25 days holiday

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • they are very appealing. The competition to be hired back is high with less that a 10% chance of hire back usually. From the experience i have gained and what i have seen it would be great to have a job with them in the future as they are a company that is constantly innovating and pushing new boundaries

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • I was the head of the sports and social committee. We put on regular activities to keep the social seen buzzing. There was weekends away, sports competitions and regular nights out. This was great to meet everyone and socialise

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The cost of living is average and i shared an accommodation with 3 other interns. This brought the cost of living down and also helped us all get through the year together. There are many social places for us to meet after work

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • the nightlife was pretty poor but its what you make of it. We have 50 interns so no matter where we go when can make it seem busy. There was one small nightclub and a few small bars meaning it was very repetitive so keeping it fun was a struggle

    1/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There wasn't too many opportunities or at least there wasn't a variety. It was mainly left up to the interns to create their own fun other than the odd activity put on by work.
