    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I absolutely loved my placement from day one. My managers took me to the meetings to give the exposure of different projects and gave a task regarding those projects to complete and get involved with. Involvement! Great team! All experience colleagues who I sit around with and had the chance to learn from and learn with. They all are constantly learning which made my placement even more fun as its a role where learning never stops and that's exactly what i want in my role after graduating. No 10/10 because there is always room from improvement and the start of my internship was a bit slow as in getting access to the different files.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Feeling valued is one of the most important thing at work place and it will either increase or decrease your performance. For me i always felt valued as a employee from everyone they never looked down on me. Always treated me as i was equal to them from day one where I had absolute no knowledge about the projects.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • 100% I had the best manager that anyone could've ask for during their placement year. He was always there for me every time I needed. I believe it was because of my manager I had the best placement and learn so much because he is the one who got me involved me many different activities and projects. #TheBestManager

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Started slow, early days i wasn't that busy as i was still getting my head around the business but about 2 months in I was busy. Didn't have time to take on any new projects as i was already working on many different projects with different colleagues in the business. Since, getting busy it has never been quite.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given full responsibility. I was leading an International project where i had to drive the project myself and get different colleagues involved when needed. I went to Sweden for the project by myself before I marked three months in on my placement which showed me that I was trusted. #Travel #Firstbusinesstrip

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Skills I developed and training i received will help me in many different ways in my degree and after. I completed the Intern Development Program which involved attending different courses such as "7 Habits of Highly Effective people" which I use in my daily life and i can see the difference it has made. Also completed many finance training which will be a big assist in the future.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Atmosphere in my office was always great! "felt like home when i was on my desk". It was like a family to me. We all knew what the mood was in the office as sometimes we all just get on with work with pure silently and other times we all chatting and joking about. Sharing stories with our colleagues. #Great #FunNeverStopped

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Overall it was a great set up. However, the start was different to was i expected and slow. May be we could have had more team activities with the interns and our own department to get to know each other better early during the year. But, as an intern it gives you the chance to take the initiative to organise team activities and get your team out for it which is was we (interns) did all the time. #BestInternGroupEver

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Company invested in me a lot from Intern Development Program to International travel experience. Organise a Gala with travel payed for. Giving me access to all the finance training program available and chance to use the program whenever i wished to. Also, online access to Franklin Covey courses in workshop and online.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Future employment prospects within the organisation, for me personally i would love to be back in here once i graduated. Overall, the business is expanding in different division which makes it more appealing to be back and be part of the expansion. Be part of the future makers team. Lead the business to next era.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • I had the best intern group ever. We always had each others back. Organised many team activities outside work and encouraged each other to do their best. All came from different part of the country and different subject area but got on amazingly well. It was sad to say bye to them at the end of the internship.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Cost of living and socialising in the area I worked in was a normal expense. Not too high not too low. It was easy and affordable to be out and socialising with the rest of your colleagues and friends without having to worry about the cost every time you go out.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Nightlife was decent! It was all about Friday for me and other interns. IT was great to be out with them as we had all fun in our intern group and not needed to have others fun around us. Enjoyed every time i went out with the interns. #Nightlife Not let me down.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • I had many activities that i got involved with. Took part in 5K, 10K, Pride event, RAF100 Weekend and The FAB awards. I did most of the activities with my fellow interns and it was absolutely great as it allowed us to get to know each other really well. Amazing activities.
