    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • The two days spent in Edinburgh were helpful in presenting Deloitte as a company to work for. Over the days I gained a valuable insight into how the company worked, and hearing from the current employees supported a growing impression that it is a rewarding and enjoyable place to work.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Through the course we were all treated as equals, and respectfully. We were encouraged to come up with our own ideas and were guided through how these would be improved. Each task was presented by a leader who made it clear that our answers would be listened to and retained. The use of a 'vlog' to document the days was an additional way of making us feel included.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • With every task there was at least one current Deloitte employee present, which allowed us to easily ask any question we may have had. Furthermore, throughout the tasks they commented on our progress and let us know how they would approach the task, alongside providing suggestions of how it could be improved.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Following on from the days, it helped me develop presentation skills and working together with an unknown group of people. Additionally it allowed me to develop the skill of 'networking' and developing conversations or questions that could be asked to an employee that helped further and clarify my understanding of that specific area.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The two days were well structured, it was clearly laid out at the beginning/end of each day what the next would consist of. The staff members running the insight were always on hand and happily answered any question relating to scheduling. However, it was not made clear before we arrived what the timetables would be which made making transport arrangements somewhat difficult.

    3/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The general atmosphere was good, everyone in the office from the concierge at the reception desk to Nicole (the leader) was very welcoming from the start. All the attendees were good company, we all shared jokes and socialised when appropriate, yet still came together and seriously dealt with each task.

    4/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • During the two days, the company invested time and resources in us, allowing us to best experience what working for the company as an employee would be like. Being able to experience the tasks on a small scale developed a sense of inclusion, as well as an understanding of how that works in a bigger picture.

    4/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • Having experienced two days within the company I have come away with a favourable opinion of working for Deloitte. This was built over the course of the two days by the supportive and helpful nature of the leader running the event, alongside the other current employees working in the office.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Through the networking time, as well as throughout the days, I gained a good understanding of the company culture as I got to talk to people and ask them what it offered them. Alongside this a presentation on the 'fun' non-work related side of the company helped me build a picture of Deloitte as being fun and enjoyable to work with and not just a boring 9-5 office job.

    4/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Having experienced the Spring into Deloitte two day event, I am convinced that I would like to apply for a summer internship programme with them, as both the areas of work and the company culture appealed to me. Neither of these would I have understood so well from just a website and an application page.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • We were reimbursed for travel expenses, however it was difficult to clarify the limit of this reimbursement.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • With networking lunches during both days, we got the chance to 'quiz' current employees about their areas of work and what working for the company as whole was. Alongside this, at a networking formal meal we got to have more informal conversations, helping to build a more comprehensive picture relating to what it's like to work for the company and what the employees are actually like outside of a formal office setting.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • The networking lunches were a good opportunity to discuss more formal topics and more in-depth areas of expertise. Meanwhile, the networking dinner was a good way to 'dig deeper' into the actual views of the employees and their journeys into the company. Apart from the employees, completing the two days alongside like minded peers further enabled networking between other university students, particular during and after the formal meal.

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Through a presentation we were shown examples of projects and other activities supported and encouraged by the company. We got the chance to ask questions about these in the formal setting of the following Q and A session, as well as during the networking lunches and dinner. Hearing what they were 'actually' like was helpful and good.

    4/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I would recommend the insight to a friend without a doubt. It was two days very well spent. First and foremost I gained a good understanding of Deloitte as an employer, and what areas they work in. Aside from this it was good fun, and the people I met were good company and I made some good friends on it.
