    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I've found my short time at Savills extremely enjoyable and extremely valuable. Because I've been situated in more than one department, I've been exposed to many different situations which has only increased my desire to work in the industry further. As I'm only in first year of university, I felt because of my lack of industry experience, I wasn't able to help the departments further, which was frustrating.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Because I've only with Savills for a week, and because I was situated in more than one department, I understood that I wouldn't have the same relationship as my brief colleagues have with one another. Nevertheless, I've been extremely comfortable and welcomed within all the teams, and even though the jobs I was tasked with weren't majorly technical, they were meaningful, which made me feel valued.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • All my questions were answered whenever I asked them, which means my notes have been extensive and detailed. After every email or task I was given, everyone always offered their assistance, no matter how abstract and silly the question may have seemed. Because everyone has been in my situation, they know what information is helpful to a insight.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Being with graduates was extremely beneficial because it gave me the ability to ask plenty of questions regarding the actual job, the process of getting accepted and key areas I should work on within my actual university studies. If I had the option I would gladly stay longer to enhance my industry basted skills, which I wont be able to do elsewhere.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • On the first day my mentor ran through the week so I knew what was coming up within the week. However my mentor went out of her way to arrange cite visits with other departments. This made the week even more beneficial, and without this I wouldn't have gained nearly as much industry knowledge.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Savills is one of the largest property firms across the globe, which adds to the internal and external pressures the company faces, however within the office the atmosphere was calm yet still professional. This mixture meant that productivity seemed to be extremely high, and everyone was busy but still approachable.

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I understand that its hard to invest time and finances in someone who is only with the company for 5 days. Nevertheless, because they offer an insight week, it shows the business is keen in investing time into younger, potential Savill professionals. Thus it motivates undergraduates like me, to try and work for savills in the future, because they've invested time and money.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • Because I had real world timings within my day, such as being in the office for 9 and leaving around 5, it gave me an insight to what it would be like having a full time job. Also having a specific time frame for lunch again added to the professionalism of the week.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Because Savills is one of the property giants, I was already aware of the culture. However being situated within the offices has highlighted areas of the culture, that I wasn't aware of. The communication between each department is a vital part, and transparency aids the performance of each department, which only aids the overall success of the business.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Extremely valuable. Each department gave me and introduction about what their roles are within the corporation, as well as how they obtain their goals and the processes they use to do so. Therefore its aided me in deciding which department will suit my skills the most. and which can enhance my skills further.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • I was extremely thankful that Savills paid for my expenses, which again highlights that Savills are keen on investing in youth. I didn't mind not being paid, as I felt the value of the experience was more beneficial than finances. Again because of the length of my employment I didn't feel the need to be paid.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Because i was in more than one department, I had the chance to speak to different professionals. On my first day my mentor showed me round the Building management team, and everyone was keen on speaking to me, even if they were busy, which I found extremely beneficial, as well as kind.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • I had a drinks evening, and Savills offered some fiancés for me to have a few drinks free of charge, which was again extremely thoughtful. This gave me the opportunity to speak to many post-grads, which gave me the opportunity to ask questions relating to how they obtained their positions within Savills.

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Because it was a working environment, I didn't want to ask questions relating to outside of work activities. However I was told, on numerous occasions that every Friday, the departments go for drinks and socialise. This invite is open to many different members of each team, which makes it very sociable.

    4/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I would highly recommend this insight to friends. I didn't expect it to be as valuable as it has been, and this surprise has only encouraged and motivated me further. Explaining what I've gained from this experience to my friends has only encouraged them to try and do the same.
