    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It was a really useful experience to show me what it was like to work at Deloitte and about the role I worked in specifically. My team were really friendly are were happy to help if I did not understand something. Also, the work I did was interesting and diverse.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I was working in the team at one of their busiest times throughout the year, this meant that I could help reaching deadlines and they were grateful for this. They were willing to take the time to explain things to me and gave me a variety of different pieces of work.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • From day one, you are assigned a buddy and a champion. They support you throughout your time there and checked in with me regularly to see that everything was going well and that I had no issues. Beyond this, the rest of the team also provided support and guidance throughout my time there.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • There were occasions that I did not have much/any work but when I asked my team if they had any tasks which I could help with, they always found me some work and gave me something to do. I never felt that I had too much work and my team were conscious not to overload me.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Whilst at Deloitte, I attended a couple of client meetings and also worked on projects with other teams from across the world. The work I was doing was for clients and therefore there is a responsibility to ensure it is done to a high standard to meet the standards of clients.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I learned things whilst there, that I would not otherwise know given they are not areas covered in my degree. The experience gave me a new insight into an area which I previously had no exposure to or knowledge of. The soft skills such a researching will also be useful in the future.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Everyone in my team was very friendly and although it was a stressful time with many deadlines there was still a friendly atmosphere. We went out for drinks a few times as a team, and with the other interns, and had a world cup sweepstake which I was able to get involved in.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • We had a day long training session at the start of the internship which was useful in getting to know some of the systems and processes. They set up a social for all the interns which was enjoyable and it was nice to speak to people from other teams about the different types of work we were all doing.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I was lucky enough to be offered a full time position which I will be taking up. The internship experience has attracted me to work there full time and I already know some of the processes and have an insight into the firm so think that it will be a good starting point.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • A social for all the interns was organised for us and this was a good opportunity to meet interns from other teams and areas and compare what it was like working in each of them. I regularly went to lunch with some of the other interns and I had drinks with my team a few times.
