    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I very much enjoyed this insight day at the Bank of England. I found it to be very informative, as well as a good opportunity to network with other undergraduates interested in similar career paths to myself. I was able to get a lot out of this insight day and would recommend it to anyone else interested in this field.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I was made to feel very well valued on this insight day. We were provided with a nice lunch as well as tea breaks. We had the opportunity to speak with senior members of the bank, which was an amazing opportunity and I felt like the bank devoted a lot of time and resources for us.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • I felt well supported throughout the insight at the Bank of England. The Recruitment Team were very supportive and I always felt that I could approach them with any questions I may have. The information session were very useful and provided guidance on pursuing a career in this sector, which I found particularly useful.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • This skills that I developed and the information I received will certainly assist me in my degree studies and beyond that. Thanks to this insight day, I am now more aware of what is required of my application for a graduate role and I know what to expect during the recruitment process and how to put together a proper graduate scheme application. Furthermore, I developed my confidence and communication skills, which will benefit me in the future.

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The insight day was well structure. The timings of the day were sent to us via email before we began and the timetable of the day was run through with us before. There was a good mixture of information sessions, presentation, interactive activities and networking opportunities. Overall, the day ran very smoothly.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere at the Bank was great and I found everyone to be very friendly, from the other interns right through to the senior members of staff. Everyone at the Bank was more than willing to assist us and give us feedback and the atmosphere was certainly more inviting than I was expecting!

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • As this was a short insight day, there wasn't much scope for personal training and development, however, it was clear to see just how much the Bank had invested in each of us, with presentations on how to enhance our application, what they're looking for, and useful advice on the group assessment.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The insight gave me a better understand of what it would be like to have a full time role at the Bank. We had the opportunity to network with current graduates during lunchtime and after lunch, there was also a Q & A session with current staff, which gave us a better understanding of the roles available at the organisation.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • The insight day was a great indicator in helping me to understand more about the culture at the Bank. I found the networking and panel sessions to be very insightful and the Bank staff were very honest about their experiences. The Bank of England seems to be a righteous organisation to work for and the employees were very enthusiastic about working there.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • I found the content of the day to be useful in helping me to decide my future career path, especially the opportunity to speak with the graduate panel and placement students about the work they do at the Bank. This insight had confirmed that I want to pursue a career in the financial sector.

  • Was reimbursed travel expenses.


  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Yes, there were plenty of opportunities to meet and network with the staff at the Bank. Over the course of the day, we had a 1 hour lunch break, where we had the opportunity to network, as well as the panel session and closing drinks. Staff were very open and honest during these networking session and happy to answer any questions.

  • Yes, there opportunities to join sport teams, as well as after work dinner and drinks that employees attend.
