The Role
My placement was very beneficial and exposed me to a lot of new aspects that i previously had not encountered during my time at Uni. The people at work were very helpful in many ways and were very welcoming from the first day throughout my whole experience at the office of work.
I was assigned important tasks in our team and my opinions were very much valued during any meetings. I felt very valued to my colleagues since some of the aspects of work relied on me to complete them before they can carry on with other aspects of it and were very understanding.
I was assigned a personal buddy who was very experienced and was there to help me out with any issues that I had. with regards to work or any other general queries that I had during my whole time with the company. Senior management also helped with any queries raised to them.
I always had tasks to do and was never bored while at work. The consistency or work being issued to the company allowed me to work on different types of projects and exposed me to stuff that had never learned of even at uni, which was a really good thing.
I was given tasks that were very important but not urgent. This helped me and gave me enough time to research and learn about the task before I actually start working on it and was usually sorely responsible for any task that was assigned to me and saw it through to the end.
My skills will stick with me throughout my whole career and have laid a foundation stone at how to do work, what to tolerate in terms of office environment and site environment and what to challenge if something is clearly wrong with work or with any individual at work, this is quiet important.
The Company
The environment was great and the people at my office were very friendly in many ways, be it with regards to work or with regards to general life queries. There was always out of work activities being organised every weekend which was always a better way of meeting and knowing each other better.
The internship was very well structured, they were expecting me and therefore they had everything setup and ready for my first day. They had a structure of the type of work which I was going to be doing and everything was run smoothly during the entire experience. The office was generally very well organised.
Though I was there only for a short time, I was given the same training as the full time employees. The office had scheduled training schedules for the whole year and I attended every training that fell around the time that I was at the office and it was very educational.
Flexi Time
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Above 25 days holiday
Healthcare/Dental
Future employment prospects within the company are very encouraging, they have been talks of an offer after my studies and they are willing to give me part time work should I need it at any point in time when I have spare time to explore that option. Relations with management are on first name basis.
The Culture
I was the only internship student at the office site but the social scene was very much there between the graduates and all other employees. Everyone was always getting involved in activities that were being arranged and held at the office or outside the office. It was good way of catching up.

The city I worked in was very lively and there was always activities and stuff happening be it mid week or weekend. The night life was full of character and people were always out. It was good for people to arrange office night outs as there were several places to attend.
There was always opportunities to get involved in outside work, especially living in a busy city. Doing activities out of work was very easy and travelling was always convenient with several options available in the city and to the city. Due to high levels of competitions, commuting was very cheap .
