    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Kier. There was a good variety of work that was conducted and was also given the chance to see the different aspects of the business.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Each member of the team were great, at some points it was stressful but at no point were they rude.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • At first I was situated at an office apposed to being on site where i really wanted to be. After I enquired about being on site this wasn't a problem and spent the remainder of my time there. The site mangers and Project managers were great for asking questions.

    3/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • As the site was undergoing groundworks there wasn't that many trades on site. But I was still kept busy doing jobs where I could.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • As I wasn't on site for very long I wasn't able to carry out certain important tasks. I was however allowed to organise other activities by myself.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • This has definitely been the best part of the internship. Bringing back all of the information I have learnt back to Uni to help with my studies.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • As the world cup was on whilst I was working the overall mood was brilliant, we all had a good balance between working and talking.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Initially I wasn't sure why I was situated in the office, but once that was sorted the organization wasn't a problem.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There was a welcome brochure I had to fill out when joining the company which went into detail about development and training. This was useful throughout the placement as I could reference my activities.

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Parties/Events

    2/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I commuted from home everyday so didn't have to live away from home. I did have to pay for petrol without it getting covered over expenses which was quite costly.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • N/A

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
