    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • 3/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • 3/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I began with a lot of support, but we received a new manager who knew less than me, so received less support. However there were always people on hand to ask if I did want help. After a while I asked for support but people became to busy to help me through with the guidance.

    3/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was continuously given new work to do, but after a while the projects were adding up and I was not receiving the guidance I needed to close them. I wanted to close off certain projects but I struggled a lot with time management as the weeks went by. This is because I had to balance long term projects with line support.

    2/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was very happy with the responsibility I was given during my placement. I was immediately given the same responsibility as other colleagues on my role, and was always trusted to make decisions that would affect the production. Though I did not always get it right, this was a very good learning experience.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I learnt a large number of useful skills both transferable for any career, and for my personal career path, such as excel and risk assessment training. Every part of my placement has been a learning experience and I have taken away things that will change the way I think and act in a professional environment.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • My office has a perfect balance of quiet working and light-hearted office humour.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • For the most part the internship process was smooth, and ran well as my site had done this for many years, however there was a slow start. I was waiting a number of weeks for my PKI card and did not have many inductions at the start. This took a while.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I have received a large number of training, including health and safety, risk assessment and excel training.
