    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • Everybody in the Guildford office was so friendly with a great working environment. It felt great to be trusted and to be involved in a range of activities, and I learnt a lot, both in terms of the industry as a whole and what I can see myself doing in the future.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Everybody was so friendly and made an effort to support me and show an interest in what I was doing. The friendly nature of the working environment made me feel like I'd known everybody there for years, not just a few days. I was made to feel that the work I was doing was genuinely useful to the team.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • It was great to be shown everything that was involved in the business and have it all explained to me. I learnt a lot and if there was anything I wasn't sure about, I didn't feel judged at all when asking, and everything was clearly explained to me, which was very confidence boosting.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • It was brilliant to see what was actually involved in the job I would love to do, and being able to apply the theory of university studies to the reality of working life. The insight helped me broaden my knowledge base with an increased knowledge of the residential market, for example through learning about the RICS Market Report.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • Throughout the structure was very clear. From the moment I arrived I felt like everything was so organised and under control. The daily presentations through the screencasts helped provide structure and broaden my understanding, and I never felt like I never had anything to do. The programme was clearly thoroughly thought out and planned.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Everyone I worked with were so friendly, both during working hours and during lunch breaks for example, and the work I was given was really engaging. The insight has made me realise that Savills would be a company that I would love to work for in the future. It was great to build some contacts.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Everyone involved clearly seemed keen and enthusiastic to teach me and help build up my knowledge base and skill set. In terms of the activities I undertook, I felt like I had a much greater understanding at the end of the week compared to the start of the week. I learnt vital skills that will be invaluable in the future.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • Despite being involved with a set team, it was clear to me that all the different departments worked together to work to the best of their ability. Through the insight I learnt how much of a role team work has in the workplace, it clearly isn't just a case of working on your own. I realised that Savills is such a friendly team, which I'd love to be a part of.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Before the insight week I hadn't understood how sociable the company culture is. During working hours people work efficiently together, and this extends to outside of working hours too, for example having a networking evening on the Thursday night for young employees within the local offices, the company culture is clearly a sociable yet hard working one.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • It was very useful in terms of learning about the residential market, as well as the commercial market as the focus is on at university. Learning about the residential market broadened my understanding and showed me that there is more to property than just commercial property, and this is very useful for deciding my career path in years to come.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • It was very generous to have expenses reimbursed, and I feel for this length of an insight experience having Savills on your CV is more valuable that monetary value.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • From the moment I arrived I was introduced to everyone in the office, working in all departments. Furthermore, on the Thursday evening there was an opportunity to meet up with other employees from other opportunities. Furthermore, there was an opportunity to meet a group of elderly people as part of Savills' charity commitment, which helped improved my networking skills.

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • It was great to be able to meet a wide range of people from multiple offices, not just people in the Guildford office. It was brilliant to build up more contacts.

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • I learnt that employees don't just work together, everyone seems to be friends, creating a great environment. I learnt about social events and sporting events that employees undertake, for example playing golf and tennis together, running together, going to the gym together and doing palates together. It is clear that employees meet up together after work.

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • The insight was absolutely invaluable, and I couldn't recommend it enough to anyone wanting to get involved in the property industry.
