    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I very much so enjoyed my time at Savills. I really can not fault that placement. My team were extremely welcoming and I can not believe how quickly my time there went. I would throughly recommend applying to this programme if you are interested as there is nothing to lose and a lot to gain!

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • At the beginning of the placement, I felt slightly nervous but I never felt that I was annoying my team and they gently coached me throughout my time. As I gained confidence, I was given more responsibility and therefore felt genuinely valued. My team were always grateful for tasks completed and would praise my work. I would leave the office each day feeling valued and proud of the work completed.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • I was given complete support by my team. I was conscious not to bug them too much with silly questions and tried to work through problems myself, however they were always very supportive when I did need help. As many of them had once been in the same position as me, they provide guidance and coached me to bring out the best in me.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Hugely. Although I am not studying real estate at University, it is something that I want to go into in the future and I am looking to do a Masters in Property and Real Estate Management. Therefore, everything I learnt with be beneficial to future studies. Also general office skills (communication, emails etc.) will stand me in good stead for the future.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The placement is very well structure. I was given a timetable at the start of the placement as well as an induction book, with all the information in it that I would need. I was also given points of contact within HR if any issues arose. During the placement, I had a mid placement review with my HR contact, which allowed me to track my progress and discuss any issues.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • There was a really great atmosphere! Of the industries that I have had experience in, real estate and Savills provided the best atmosphere. As a notorious sociable industry, it certainly did not disappoint! Furthermore, there was a healthy work life balance, and most employees seemed to abide by the mantra work hard, play hard.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • It is clear that the company does invest a lot of resource into the interns and this is all geared towards encouraging the interns to apply for the graduate scheme. Therefore, I felt that my managers mentored and coached me to reach the best of my ability and that HR was a strong support tool that provided a smooth transition to applying for the graduate scheme.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • Very much so and prospects of working for Savills are extremely appealing. On completion of the placement, all interns are encouraged to apply to the grad scheme. All of the grads that I have spoken to in the office have extremely positive things to say about working here, and it is easy to gauge that the grad scheme is extremely well respected.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There were many networking opportunities. My team encouraged me from day one to network with other teams and find out as much about the company as possible. Due to the social nature of the company, it was very easy to form bonds with fellow colleagues. I was encouraged to attend different meetings and attend working lunches to broaden my network.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • There were plenty of social event opportunities. The interns would frequently have lunch together which was a great chance to find out about other roles and speak about any problems or queries. Furthermore, drinks were frequently organised on a Thursday or Friday evening. I went out for drinks a number of times with my team also. When it was someone's birthday everyone would make an effort to have lunch together which was nice!

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Yes, there were many opportunities for employees to get involved in activities outside of work. I became involved in the netball league, and I know that there were many other sports teams and leagues available to join, whereby you not only competed with colleagues but other companies also. Furthermore, there were a number of volunteering opportunities that employees could get involved with.
