    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • The placement has been a really useful opportunity to both see what I like about property as well as the aspects that I am not as interested in. The placement in itself has been enjoyable and I have learnt a lot more about the company and the type of business that it is which is a bonus when you come to look at grad schemes.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • From day one I was welcomed into the team and made to feel as though I was part of the team. It is hard coming in on a placement as you are not a permanent member of staff and therefore the work you are set may seem less important, however all the work I did was appreciated and as the internship went on my work load changed so I was trusted with helping to write up valuation reports.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • The level of guidance and support varied throughout the placement. Most of the time team members were more than willing to sit down and explain to me the different elements of what I was doing and why. However the workload remained pretty mundane and more emphasis on explaining different types of work would have been more useful to both me and them.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The experience was very useful to my studies and what I want to do in the future. It has helped me to realise where my interests lie and therefore will be invaluable when I start my Masters in September . I would thoroughly recommend this internship to anyone, as it is helpful to see where you would like to specialise.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The summer scheme was very well structured with a constant flow of contact from the HR team as well as a welcome pack on arrival. There were daily emails keeping in contact and while the scheme seemed to be primarily focused for the graduates in London, effort and contact was maintained to include the regional offices in the meetings which you could call in to listen to. A catch up phone call was arranged mid way through the placement to see how the placement was going.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere in the office was very hardworking however the people I was working with were friendly which made the brief moments of "chat" enjoyable. There were after work drinks organised to welcome me to the team however I felt this wasn't a usual occurrence but it was nice all the same to properly welcome me to the team.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company invested a lot of time into the graduates through the central HR team. Within the team I was working some colleagues were very good in sitting down and explaining things.

    4/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The insight was fundamental in helping me to understand what it would be like to be a graduate within the company. It was useful to see what workload/ opportunities/ the environment of savills is like before you are committed to a grad scheme.

    4/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • The company culture seems very hardworking however it is clear that there are also many opportunities for socialising outside of work.

    4/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • The content was very important, it has really helped me see what I want to do and where I want to focus my career path.

  • Yes there opportunities to go for drinks one evening as well as an internal lunch.

    4/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • They were good fun, there was only a couple of events however it was good opportunity to meet other people in the business.
