    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed working for Savills. It is a big company and offers plenty of opportunities, for example for me I was sent abroad for a month to work in another office in their agency department. It was a great experience with a chance to see and live in a different city.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My colleagues were very kind and welcoming, it made such a difference to work in a friendly atmosphere. We would frequently go out for a meal and they always had time to answer your questions. I felt this was important especially if your main objective was to learn as much possible.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The main support I received was from my first point of contact, in London this was a grad and abroad it was a consultant and both were very helpful and offered support whenever I asked for it. The management understandably had more on their plate so I wouldn´t have much contact with them.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The work I believe was always relevant although sometimes I found the work load would lack a bit, but that is the nature of agency it can come in ebbs and flows especially in the summer when everyone is on holiday.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given quite a lot of responsibility from meeting clients and sometimes by myself to be given a list of jobs to do and how I did them or in which order was up to me. I enjoyed this work structure as I could work in a way that suited me and break up my day if needed with other jobs.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • What I have learnt will be very helpful, I have a much better understanding of how such a big international business works having worked in both London and abroad. We were also given departmental presentations so we could understand the different services that Savills provides which was very help. I learnt to work with clients in both countries and got a better understanding of how the cultures differed. This has been a very useful experience for me.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The general atmosphere was relatively laid back, but professional. I felt people had a good work/life balance and this lead to a good atmosphere in the office.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The placement was very well organised, I was given a budget to find a place abroad to stay in for a month and flights. The HR team where very nice and always willing to help to make sure everything was catered for.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Plenty of things were organised for us, such as tours around the city to look at the latest deals Savills have been involved with to a historical walk to learn more about the colourful history of the city. The Departmental talks were also very helpful to get a better feel of what the company did. By offering chances to meet and work with clients this gave me an opportunity to develop as a professional.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised/Company Gym

    International Travel

    Company Parties/Events

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Very appealing, I think Savills is a great place to work. I will definitely be applying to work fulltime. The only thing is I am still unsure as to which department I want to work in.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There was a great social scene among fellow placement students. The majority of us would go out for drinks once a week after work or have lunches together and I believe we will stay in contact after.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The cost of living in London was relatively expensive however I was fortunate that I lived there. In Barcelona I had my flat and flights paid for by Savills which made the living costs much cheaper and Barcelona is much more reasonably priced than London.

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The nightlife was great, although I didn´t have too many late nights. Both London and Barcelona have plenty bars/restaurants/clubs to visit that cater for all tastes. Barcelona was much more reasonably priced and you could stay out until daylight should one want to.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • I myself didn´t get involved in many activities other than a few talks but a few of the other students were drafted into the sports teams to play for Savills against other companies which seemed like a great opportunity to mix with other employees, network with other businesses and meet new people.
