    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • The summer internship scheme was, overall, a very enjoyable and informative experience.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • The work you do contributes directly to product that is put in front of clients meaning you see real results from the work. The supervising staff always ensure that you fully understand how the work you are doing contributes or affects the bigger picture meaning that you always appreciate the value in what you are doing.

    4/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • Task were explained clearly and concisely. You are left to manage your own work load but clear deadlines for jobs are set and guidance and support is always on hand if needed. Everyone was always happy to take time answering questions to ensure you get a full understanding of the task you have been given as well as the bigger picture.

    4/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • It has been great to see how the basic techniques and theories you have been learning at university are applied in the ‘real world’. It gives a deeper insight into the why certain approaches are used for different situations. It has also helped develop skills and approaches to work that will definitely help me going forwards with both university and work.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The overall programme was well structured and run, with special talks and events put on across the month to give insight into other teams and departments within Savills. Within the team it did sometimes feel like there wasn't a lot of structure for the intern, with work being found on an ad-hoc basis.

    4/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Savills promote a friendly, relaxed, but still professional atmosphere and this is felt throughout the team. Everyone was approachable, helpful and supportive to each other and to the interns. There is a big focus on customer care and building relationships with clients which, even as an intern, you are encouraged to engage with.

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Being only a 4 week placement there was no significant investment in individual training for obvious reasons. You are, however, encouraged to engage in training events that are being put on for graduates, such as ‘lunch-and-learn’ events, which are very beneficial. The focus is more on giving you a taste of how Savills works and the different markets it operates in.

    4/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The insight has given a great perspective on what a full time graduate role would be like. All of the team are keen on getting you involved on a variety of tasks and meetings to give you a full taste of the sort of roles that would be expected of a graduate. The overview talks also give more details on the structure of the graduate scheme and day-to-day life.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • The insight programme gives a full understanding of the company culture as you work directly alongside people at all levels of the business. In addition, talks are given that promote and cover Savills as a brand and a company along with their goals and how they seek to achieve them.

    4/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • The programme has opened my eyes to the different departments available within a company like Savills and given me a better understanding of what they all do. It has certainly given me some ideas for where I want to be after qualification and a great base understanding of what I need to be doing to get there.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • The pay was better than expected for a work experience programme and any expenses incurred for site visits were fully reimbursed.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • A lot of focus was put on ensuring you had contact with as many different people at Savills as possible. Events were put on with fee earners, other interns and graduates throughout the month to maximise the contact you could get. Although work with your given team should be a priority it is worth making time to get to these events whenever possible.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • They were varied and interesting, ranging from a fee earners lunch to rounder's in the park with graduates. Additional, smaller events were arranged by the other interns as well for us to meet up and get to know each other better.

    4/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • These were mentioned on a couple of the talks but not a lot of information was given.

    3/5

  • Yes, completely.
