    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my 12-month placement at Pernod Ricard. I was constantly made to feel like a valued member of the team, and always felt supported by my manager and my colleagues. This year has provided extremely valuable experiences for my final year at University, as well as applying for jobs in the future.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I was treated like a valued member of the team from day one, and was welcomed in a very friendly manner. The whole office has a very friendly atmosphere, and I never felt intimidated by those around me.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My manager was supportive and approachable, and I knew I could ask him for help at any time without feeling intimidated. Throughout my year, my manager increased my workload once I was comfortable, and I was given more and more responsibilities, which was really motivating.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • As the brand I work on is quite seasonal, some months were definitely busier than others. I never felt that I was overloaded with work and had to work late, but there were some days that I felt I could've been given more to do.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • As previously mentioned, I was given more responsibilities as my year progressed. Nevertheless, I still started out my year with some great responsibilities such as being a community manager for the brands social media pages. I never felt that I was doing useless jobs, and always felt valued.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I definitely think that what I have learnt in my year at Pernod Ricard will put me in good stead for my last year of University, as well as my future career. Confidence building, such as presenting in meetings etc., has also been great for me, as these were skills that I needed to develop.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The office here is always friendly and lively, with regular events occuring at lunchtimes and after work. More specifically, my team always has high morale and a great atmosphere, celebrating birthdays etc. It is definitely a very fun office to work in.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The placement is well organised, however the team switches around regularly. I haven't been directly affected by this, but is something to take into account. The HR department are very organised, and so the overall set up of the placement is very good.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I completed two WSET levels facilitated by the company which is encouraged, as well as an insights day. The company definitely invests in their employees, giving them as many opportunities as possible, which is really great. There were numerous education sessions I could sign myself up to etc.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Sports and Social Club

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    International Travel

    Financial Bonus

    Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    Working from home

    Healthcare/Dental

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • The graduate roles at Pernod Ricard are based in the field, and not in the office. I therefore could not get an office-based job via a graduate role, which is slightly disapponting

    2/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There were 5 other placement students, some of whom I became very good friends with. We therefore had a good social scene, as the business park is full of bars and restaurants.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • As expected, it was very expensive as it is in Chiswick in London. I lived in Ealing, which was expensive, but worth it for the experience. Other placement students lived at home, which saved them money.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Chiswick is full of lovely bars and restaurants

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There weren't many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work
