    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • Very packed 2 days. Learnt about 3 divisions in much detail, while other divisions were just touched upon. Scheduling was really good.

    4/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Very friendly. Not intimidating. Everyone is nice to talk to and you will make some good friends while you learn a lot too.

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • A lot of employees make time in their day to come and assist with the spring programme, talking to you and explaining their role in Deloitte, how they got there and they give good advice too. It is only a 2 day programme so training isnt really possible or necessary but they definitely give you a lot of case study work to do which is definitely good practice for when it comes to assessment centres for the internship.

    5/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • You get to speak to a lot of employees and they are very helpful when it comes to getting to know what they do and the sort of customers they work with and the way they go about their jobs. Also the case studies give you an insight into what each service line does, the sort of work they might do and you can get a good idea of what internship to apply to from that. Also you get to know how deloitte really works overall and how it treats its employees from talking to them.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • You just need to speak to people to find out. They all talk about it very highly and they are not being forced to say anything. You can see by the way they carry out themselves they really enjoy themselves and they can tell you all about the perks of working there and the opportunities they have had from working there. You just need to make good use of the 2 days.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • For the divisions that were covered they really gave a good insight into the work carried out and you could speak to people fro these service lines, however not all service lines were incorporated into the programme which was a bit disappointing but you can always just ask about other divisions if you are interested. They know bits about what the other divisions do it's just not every division had its own "segment" during the 2 days.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • Travel expenses were covered (there was a cap of £50) and we were provided accommodation for one night in a very very very nice hotel in the centre of the city. Dinner was provided for one night, breakfast the following morning, and both lunches were covered. They definitely treat you very well and if your travel expenses were more than £50 you can just think of how much else they are providing and it isnt that big of a deal to cover the remaining cost yourself.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There were plenty of opportunities for networking. People were around during the day at the office and during your case studies and games they organised. Also for the dinner there were a lot of employees who came down and were willing to talk about pretty much anything you would ask. Also you get to meet everyone else on the programme and can expand your network that way too.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • Dinner was great. The food was amazing and the opportunity to talk to everyone was really good. Also the fact everyone was placed in the same hotel meant you could really get to know everyone you were on the programme with. During the day you can see exactly how the work is done and ask for recommendations by people who work in those divisions (during the case studies).

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Yes! You just need to ask! Everyone is so willing to talk about what they do in and out of work. They can tell you what is good in the local area, the "society"-like events going on at work. They are all really friendly and are willing to answer any questions you want answered so if you have a question and want to know about what they get involved with, just ask! They'll probably be really excited to tell you about it!

    5/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Yes! Unlike some schemes it is not too long, so there is still plenty of time to get revision done before exams. Also you will get to see what may be a new place, meet new people, get an insight into a range of divisions, and are in a really good position knowing which internship opportunity you want to apply to. It was really great.
