    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • Deloitte's 'Spring into Deloitte' event was hugely insightful. Here I was given an insight into 3 of the divisions that Deloitte offer, Tax Consulting, Risk Advisory and Audit. There was a mixture of enjoyable games, speakers and networking events in order to make the most of the 2-day experience offered in Edinburgh. Overall, this event was really enjoyable, offering students a chance to meet others at different universities as well as people who work at Deloitte.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • As there were only around 45-50 students at the event, it did feel particularly inclusive and one where all of us students could feel welcome and get involved. I felt that Deloitte did make an effort to make us feel welcome and part of the company, especially with the networking meal at the end of the first night with people from the company.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • 3/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • This event gave me much more insight into the atmosphere, ethos and values are at Deloitte, allowing me to better assist if I wish to apply to work for Deloitte in the future. One external speaker even gave a talk on how to present yourself in a business environment, as well as how to stand out - clearly a key and valuable asset to take on in further life!

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The event was fairly well structured over the two days, with an agenda which was accurately followed on both days. However, it could have perhaps been structured better in order for more to be done on the 2nd day and give time for perhaps more information and for more speakers at the company to give us a greater idea of what working at Deloitte is like.

    4/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The general atmosphere was relaxed, allowing students to talk to others and ask a mixture of questions to Deloitte employees without feeling that there was a 'bad question' to ask. I felt that this gave an accurate representation of the company as the whole, one which aims to be the best but still tries to go about this in a relaxed and organised way.

    4/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There were a couple of sessions which focused on the application process and how to succeed in an interview with Deloitte. Clearly, this was a clear attempt to help us with the next steps of our application both with Deloitte and with alternative career paths. They also let us watch a Deloitte interview which went through the style and approach we should take with them.

    5/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • 4/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • This was perhaps the most important takeaway from the event. I felt that instantly when I walked in I was a part of Deloitte with its inclusive and relaxed atmosphere. Everyone you talk to at the firm also seems to feel the same way. I went away from the event thinking that I want to work for a firm with this type of culture.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • I felt that this helped me confirm options that I wasn't so interested in, allowing me to rule out potential options that I hadn't yet ruled out before the event. Overall, I did, however, feel slightly unsure as other areas that Deloitte offer, such as Consulting, was not offered. Therefore I feel that while this has helped, more information would have been brilliant.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There were lots of opportunities! Altogether, I'd say we had the opportunity to speak to over 25 employees at Deloitte with a number of them attending the networking meal at the end of the first day. This allowed us to ask more questions and understand how they feel working for Deloitte, as well how they see Deloitte in their future careers.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • 5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • 4/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • For anyone who feels that they need to know more about professional services firms, this is a brilliant event to gain an insight into a range of different areas Deloitte offer. The 2 day experience also allows for you to see an office outside of London and can see the difference in culture in a smaller office with less individuals, meaning that you can certainly gain a better judgement into what sort of work environment you prefer.
