The Role
I enjoyed the work I was doing a great deal, it related to my university work and I learned a great deal from it.
I was shown a lot of respect from day one and was given a lot of time with my manager whenever I needed it.
The support I got was very good, I was allowed to get on with my work at my own pace and whenever I needed support or guidance it was there for me.
I was busy on a daily basis as my project required a lot of work, however the work I had was appropriate for the time I had, it was not too much or too little.
I was treated the same as any other employee and given the responsibility to go along with this.
The experience I gained during this placement will help me a great deal in my final year at university and in later life.
The Company
The office was very relaxed and everyone was friendly, there was nights out and everyone seemed to get along well. It was a good atmosphere to work in.
My team and manager had everything set up for me from the start. The only downside to the placement was that some of the communications didn't reach me as my email was slightly different to the rest of the interns. This meant that I heard about some compulsary events very last minute.
Everything I needed in terms of development was provided for me. The only thing I would have like to do but never got the opportunity was gain some offshore experience.
Company Car
The chance of a future job with Centrica is good, I would definitely consider working for them in the future. The process of gaining a graduate job does seem a bit over the top though with the amount of stages to go through.
The Culture
The social scene was good, I socialised with the other intern and a few graduate engineers also.
The cost of living was standard for the UK. The company helped a great deal by paying for accommodation.
The location was very central, so all the nightlife was at my doorstep.
There were various opportunities like attending football matches and leaving nights.
