The Role
I really enjoyed my placement at Savills! I felt like I was always given things to do and in most cases they were challenging tasks. Furthermore, I feel that I was given a lot of responsibility and I felt that the work that I did helped my team write reports and so on,
I feel like that often my opinion was taken into account and that I was never made to feel that I was just an 'intern'. My team kindly took me out for a lunch on my last day which I feel proves that they valued me as a part of their team for the 4 weeks.
I was assigned a mentor who looked after me for the week. She was very kind and was of a graduate position; just a few years older than myself. This was great because it meant that we could to relate to one another as we are relatively new in the grand scheme of things to the company. Furthermore having a mentor made me more comfortable in asking questions of how to do things.
I have been very busy! There has barely been a moment to sit down and reflect on the tasks that I have been doing on a daily basis.
I was given a lot of responsibility on my placement. During my 4 weeks there members of the team who were absent on annual leave. Therefore I feel that I was given a lot more responsibility than what would usually be expected of an intern.
Hopefully it will help me ten fold for my final year of my degree! This is because I study a real estate undergraduate degree in property; the field of work I want to go in. It has been great to be able to learn how things are done in the industry as apposed to learning the facts at university!
