    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Overall, I am very pleased with my internship at Savills. In a months' time, I feel like I have learnt a lot of new things and what is more, I was able to apply my existing knowledge and skills on real life projects. The day to day activities were of a high importance and I felt valued as a part of the team.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • From day one, I was welcomed by the team members who seemed excited to greet me and show how things work. During my placement, I always showed enthusiasm about the new tasks, and hence, I was given plenty of work to do on a daily basis. At one point, my mentor introduced me to another colleague who got me involved into a fantastic project in the City of London, which I kept working on until the last week.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Fortunately, every person that I met at Savills (primarily on the third floor) was extremely helpful and eager to assist or answer any of my questions. Since my team members had to travel for work quite a lot, I sometimes had to approach other graduates or interns in order to get the support and guidance required.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • On a daily basis, I had many tasks since I was assisting my team members as well as another associate (Sarah Fellows) with her project in the City of London. This helped me to become more organised and keep my diary up to date at all times. I am very grateful for the experience I was offered during this month.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I feel like I have been given enough responsibility during my placement. Very often, the tasks I was involved in required a thorough research, contacting other departments, attending internal and external meetings, and analysing statistics derived from Savills' European offices (Market Research).

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I can certainly say that I am happy with the experience I gained during my placement. It helped me to be more assertive, professional and raised the standard of work I can deliver. I feel like getting a summer internship before I graduate was the best decision ever. I cannot wait to share my experience with fellow students next academic year.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Overall, the atmosphere in the office was relaxing and welcoming. I feel like people work at their own pace, albeit, their skills and talent allow them to complete the work on time without stressing about it too much. I enjoyed the Friday drinks at the office, as well as all extracurricular activities, such as watching football with the team and playing Beer Pong.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The organisational part of my internship placement at Savills was of the highest standard. I think, this is mainly because of all the hard work that our HR Team did. I want to particularly say thanks to Naomi Wilson and Ella Watts for being efficient in organising the sports events, department overviews and other social activities that helped to enhance our experience here.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I certainly feel like I was given enough tasks and responsibility throughout my placement. I wish that I could have done more actual valuations which would stimulate personal training and development. Overall, I think the company (as well as my team) invested a fair amount of time in my learning progress which I am hugely thankful for.

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    Company Parties/Events

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Thanks to Department Overview talks, which took place throughout my placement, I got familiar with a number of employment prospects at Savills. The fact that the company offers a wide range of real estate services and advisory to their clients, makes me want to pursue my career here, possibly on the commercial/valuation path.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes. The students, as well as colleagues and other graduates, were always friendly and helpful. I was often invited to various external events, such as watching football games, or going out for a drink after work. I feel like the overall social scene at Savills is fun and offers a lot of entertainment, which makes the whole experience much better than I imagined.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • When it comes to the cost of living, I find London relatively expensive comparing to other big cities in the UK - Liverpool and Manchester, for example. Albeit, for the opportunities one can have, from both social and professional point of view, it is totally worth it.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Frankly, I am not a big fan of nightclubs, hence, having a late dinner party works best for me. The fact that our office (33 Margaret Street) is located moments away from Soho, the West End, St. James's and Mayfair, it makes it very easy to attend post work drinks and social events, as well as stay up until late - I always feel safe in Central London.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes, I was definitely offered a number of opportunities, which included city tours, sports games, networking events and lunches.
