    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It was a really great experience. Intel is a big company and they have a lot of procedures in place that are normally not a priority when working on a individual project for example. One of the key things that I can take away from my time here is the importance of testing properly.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I immediately felt part of the team from the beginning and was treated as an equal member, which was good from my perspective as it allowed me to be more open about the issues that I was facing in my work.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I had a lot of support, especially at the beginning until I got used to the systems in place. The team would be there to help if I had issues that were within their area of expertise

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Usually there was always something to do, but it varied by what the goal for that particular period was, as some days were busier that others.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • To start with I was working on things that had to be done but were not needing knowledge about how the system worked. After I was a bit more familiar with it I started picking up tasks as every other teammate did.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • It will certainly be helpful towards my career as I have learned a few new things in term of technology, but more importantly in terms of teamwork and management.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • It was quite relaxed as people would take a break and chat or go for some beverages.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The team was quite organised internally. As a newcomer I had a bit of trouble with things that were not documented but got over them with the help that I got.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I had some mandatory training to do with the company and it's policies.

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    Company Parties/Events

    Healthcare/Dental

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I haven't researched that option at this time

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There were other interns at the time with which I would occasionally have a chat.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The living costs were quite high for the area, but considering the comparison with London they were ok.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • There was some Nightlife, but not really much.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were some, but Aylesbury is quite small so you can't really expect a lot.

    3/5
