    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • An amazing experience. At all stages I felt supported by both my working team and the University staffing team. I felt the work I did truly added value and business impact, both to the sector I worked in and the wider business. I was given the freedom to think and work in my own way. The collaboration between the University staffing team and my core team made me feel truly supported throughout the year.

  • I felt very valued and that they really respected my opinion. I worked in a small team but had as much responsibility as them.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I felt very supported. I had regular 1:1's with my manager and the staffing team. I was able to voice any concerns I had etc. they listened to me and supported me.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Very busy but not too busy that I was stressed/overloaded.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • A lot of responsibility both within my core role and on stretch projects I took on myself. Interns are given the responsibility and expected to be able to carry out like anyone else. The great thing is that we were treated as regular employees.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The work ethic I have gained during my time at Microsoft is something I will definitely be able to take back to University life. I have learnt how to collaborate and lead as well and this is something I feel will be very important for my final year in University, especially in group projects.
