The Role
I would definitely recommend the Centrica Summer Placement Programme to anyone interested in applying - great company, great people!
I was fortunate to work on a team that highly valued my work and made me feel very much like a part of the team. I was offered a lot of support and given great feedback along every step of the way.
I had weekly 121's with my line manager and when she was out of the office, she was only a phone call away! I had a lot of support from both her and the other members of our team, if I had any questions or concerns they were always willing to take these on board.
This varied throughout my placement. Some projects required input from other members of the team and the wider company so much of my work would depend on my interactions with them. Because of this, sometimes I found that my projects would be stalled until I was able to have meetings with other people within the company. That being said, because of the variety of projects that I was given, I could always find work to keep me quite busy.
One of the most best and most challenging aspects of Centrica's Summer Placement Programme is the amount of responsibility you are given from day one - a lot to take on but an incredible learning experience.
As I would love to have a career in marketing, I believe this internship has definitely enabled me to develop a variety of skills that will be invaluable to me in the future.
The Company
Very busy office, great atmosphere!
Very well structured - as the summer placement programme has been running for quite a few years now it was very well organised.
A lot of investment was made in the summer interns! We were given a variety of opportunities to really develop our skills, including a presentation skills event.

Company Parties/Events
There are opportunities for summer interns to progress onto the graduate scheme. If you put in the time and effort throughout your placement, then you could be invited back for a final graduate interview.
The Culture
The social scene was great for those working in Staines/Windsor. We were all placed in student accommodation and spent a lot of time together both at work and at home. My fellow placement students were all such amazing people, I really can't say enough good things about this aspect of the placement!
Depends on where you go - we were living in student accommodation in Uxbridge so really wasn't that expensive.
There wasn't a lot of variety in Uxbridge; however, we did have nights out in Watford and Windsor.
I think this depended on what team and area of the business you were working in - there were a few interns that got involved with sporting activities outside of work.
