    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I really enjoyed the insight program. The people were great, the program was well structured and insightful. I got to meet some interesting fellow insight students. I enjoyed the fact we had many internal networking opportunities as well as being taking out on one occasion for drinks and on the other for lunch at a high quality restuarant in west end. It would be hard to be critical other than the fact that other insight students had site visits whereas I was unlucky to not have one.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I would say I felt quite valued. I appreciate the fact I was only at the firm for a week so this wouldnt be enough time to be assigned any major projects or responsibilities. In the work I did I felt like I contributed despite doing basic research and analysis my work was commended and appreciated. The fact I was given constructive feedback on where I could improve my work also proves this .

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • I was provided with extensive guidance and support with all the tasks I worked on. I could ask as many questions as possible to complete my work. On the first day I was assigned to two graduate trainee surveyors who were very supportive in sharing their experiences and in showing me how to access all the necessary data, databases and information. I could also gain guidance from my other colleagues.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I would say the most important learning aspect of this program was gaining insight and improving my confidence in terms of what high end property agents do and the advice they provide to clients such as Banks, developers and institutional investors. Another important insight was generally engaging with the major current affairs at present that are of direct concern to property professionals.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • Very well structured from the beginning till the end. Our schedule was full of events, meetings and tasked work. We had the opportunity to gain insight on all major business functions as well as meet senior directors (fee earners). We also had the chance to be given a tour of the city and some of the deals Savills was currently involved and previously completed.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Savills had a really welcoming and amicable atmosphere. I was surprised by the willingness of each professional team members open minded approach and the freedom with which I could ask questions and ask for help. Even Savills senior directors were kind and willing to share their experiences in a friendly manner and I have maintained contact with some of the key relationships that I developed.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The companies major investment in me was in the care taken to design a well structured insight program which gave me extensive insight into working life as agent and current property affairs. There wasn't enough time to gain major improvements in terms of training and personal developments. One skill developed however was networking during the various networking events that took place

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • This one hundred percent gave me a good understanding of what it would be like. This is in fact the insight I valued the most . As well as working on the work assigned to me I could observe the work flow, activity and conversations of other professional property agents. I learned about the primary role of the companies work which is to provide leading market insight to major property stake holders.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • The insight gave me a direct personal experience into the company culture. I expected the firm to be much more corporate and hierarchical. However it was very open and friendly than I had previously assumed and imagined thankfully. I can clearly picture what culture I would be working in if I were to work at the firm after working their via this insight program.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Very Valuable as someone who is very keen to learn about what is on offer at the various property career paths I learned quite clearly about the work of a professional property surveyor. I also gained insight on other career paths such as property development and investment by asking questions and engaging in the various insight talks and events. I now know what experience I would like to gain next

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • This was where I was pleasantly surprised. i didn't think senior directors would make the time to meet insight students like myself. I had the chance to take quite a few business cards and ask many questions about the route other surveyors has taken and the kind of work and projects they were currently involved in and the high profile clients they extended their services to.
