    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Great team to work with, plenty of events to get involved in within the company and surrounding area.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Felt like an integral part of the team and took on real responsibilities.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Manager and surrounding team were always willing to provide constructive and very in-depth feedback where required. Manager invested time into providing training for both technical skills (e.g. SQL training) as well as softer skills such as best business practices.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Work load varied, always had a project I could be working on.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Responsibility increased throughout the year as I became more competent with using the systems in place. Took over a number of key business processes in addition to having the opportunity to manage a reasonably sized project as well as being a system owner for a number of web applications.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I now have a far greater understanding of the role and importance of a business analyst within a company and have a far greater knowledge SQL and SQL Server which are currently assisting me in my final year project. The year was a great experience and has given me plenty of examples to discuss during graduate job interviews.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Very friendly, open environment.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • 4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Manager and surrounding colleagues invested as much time as they could to support and develop my skills where possible / and required. Far more proficient at SQL, QlikView and producing documentation than I was prior to the year.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Financial Bonus

    Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • There is no IT Graduate Scheme available at PRUK. However, it is still a great opportunity to get your foot in the door and develop a range of skills.

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • 4 Other placement students with 2 were living outside of London. However, we managed to organise a number of social events throughout the year.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The move to Chiswick Park (although far nicer than Hounslow) did increase the costs. Living more east of the office helped reduce the cost of rent.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Not much going on in west London, but it's still London, plenty to do in the surrounding area.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • 4/5
