    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Very enjoyable. The team made the effort to welcome me to the company and the work I was undertaking was very relevant to my degree, so very beneficial.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • They made a lot of effort to welcome me into the team. I felt like I had been there for years after I'd settled into the new surroundings!

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • As much supervision as you required. Team members always willing to help and lend a hand if you get stuck, but at the same time they won't give you the answers, that's where you have to develop your own learning.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • It is a consultancy, so work comes in peaks and troughs, I was busy for 99% of the time I was there. I very rarely had nothing to do, which is beneficial.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • As this was a summer placement, I didn't receive as much responsibility as some one working there on a year placement. But having said that, after proving what I could do in the first couple of weeks I was gradually given more responsibility through the summer.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • As with any placement, the skills you develop are essential and will help you with your degree and studies afterwards. This placement suited my degree and I found I have used a lot of knowledge that I gained from it already! You gain a better technical understanding of projects and how things work, which is not something you can learn in university.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • It was fun, other members of the team were interesting and funny and would always talk to you. The office was qwerky and modern and located on the canal. A nice atmosphere all in all!

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The organisation was great. Official welcome before meeting the team and then straight into work and learning as much as I could. Weekly meeting to discuss resources and what I would be working on etc.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • With being a summer placement student, I didn't receive the full benefits of someone working for the company full time. However, I attended continuing professional development (CPD) events where lunch would be provided (for free!).

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Very positive, although there's no shortcut through the recruitment process (you still have to go through the same system as every one else) your application is looked on favourably in comparison to others to apply. If you've been a good placement student and got on well with the team, why wouldn't they want you back?

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Lots of social events happening all the time. Payday drinks, meals for people leaving and joining the company etc. Even some summer time events such as a summer BBQ and sports days!

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • In comparison to London and other cities, the area I worked in is better value for money.

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Leeds has a great nightlife scene, lots of bars, clubs and places to eat. Lots to explore and lots of new bars opening all the time.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • As previously mentioned there were organised socials and events to attend after work. They aren't compulsory so you don't have to attend, but if you don't you'll miss out on the fun! They are good opportunities to bond with the people you work with and get to know them better.

    5/5
