My placement year at LIDL was highly enjoyable - I was given a full introduction to all aspects of area management, from stock control to shop floor coordination. This was made even better by the fact that I was earning a decent salary alongside my experience, which made me enjoy it without financial worries. I was given the option to return to LIDL, something that I have taken up as I enjoyed my placement year so much.
This work placement was extremely rewarding and it was very enjoyable to gain skills in many different areas. This being said it is HARD work, especially in terms of some of the shift work you will do during logistics and sales - very early mornings, later nights, weekends. This placement gives you the opportunity to work in so many different environments: warehouses, stores and offices, along with a range of different people with different skill sets
I really enjoyed my year in industry, especially as the Lidl scheme allows you to rotate through all the different regional departments (Sales, Supply Chain, Logistics, and Human Resources). This is because it gives you a better understanding of the business model as a whole, and you can start to form an opinion on which route you would like to go down after you graduate. All of the managers were really friendly and helpful which enhanced the experience.
My placement with Lidl was extremely eye-opening and I thoroughly enjoyed my year learning in depth about the food retail industry and training in various management roles. The placement has allowed me to develop my employability and transferable skills massively which will aid me during my final year at University and future employment. The rotational scheme that Lidl offer allowed me to work in Sales, Logistics, Administration, Training, Recruitment, Payroll and run my own regional cost project! Lidl offered me a challenging placement that pushed me out my comfort zone, provided with an incredibly supportive professional network, developed my personal and professional abilities, a fantastic experience with endless opportunities I am grateful for.
I can honestly say that my placement year has been really enjoyable. I have been able to challenge and push myself out of my comfort zone whilst learning so much. As a student I didn't really know which area of the business to go into and the rotational aspect of the Lidl placement scheme was perfect for me! I have learnt so much throughout my year and it has given me an insight into Lidl as a business, but also the industry.
I really enjoyed my placement year at Lidl as I was given many opportunities to learn and develop my skillset. I was able to venture into numerous departments and even departments that were not originally planned due to COVID-19. I was given the opportunity to work with many different stakeholders and my opinion was valued. The placement at Lidl requires a lot of hard work but you can definitely reap the rewards. I would 100% recommend Lidl to any student looking to study a placement year.
I highly enjoyed my time whilst working within Lidl. The different rotations around the departments allowed for a large variety whilst recieving great support from colleagues. This placement requires a lot of hard work but is very rewarding. It is a good foundation to start your career within Lidl or for future graduate schemes.
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement year at Lidl, having such a varied year spending time in a variety of departments such as stores, logistics, supply chain and property has really helped enhance my knowledge for by Business and Management degree and future career.
The variety of work experience gained over the last 11 months have been invaluable to my learning. The type of work has been extremely varied and challenging; giving insight into all aspects of the business from a bottom level up perspective. The teams were fundamental in my learning offering key training and support.
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement year with Lidl. Over the 48 weeks I worked in several different departments including Sales, Supply Chain, HR Training, Sales Organisations and Transport. This gave me an overview of the entire business operation from start to finish which was really interesting. In each department I worked in, I had a really friendly and helpful team which helped to make the experience even more enjoyable. Besides the work aspect of the placement, I made lots of friends in the other placement students and we were able to stay in nice hotels and have meals with each other while we worked in Head Office as well as being given an end-of-placement event for us all to enjoy.
Overall, I throughly enjoyed the Retail Placement Programme. I enjoyed the rotational aspect the most as I was constantly learning new skills and meeting new people. However, I found certain departments less busy than others which meant I felt undervalued and sometimes a bit of a burden within that department.
I have significantly enjoyed my placement with Lidl. I have had the opportunity to work in several different departments in Lidl from Sales to Logistics to Head Office. Therefore, no day has been the same and I have met various new people along the way. The placement has been challenging and I have definitely been out of my comfort zone at times, so do not expect the placement to be easy. Nevertheless, I have found my placement to be rewarding and I have enjoyed my time with Lidl.
I really enjoyed my placement year, there are definitely some departments which were more enjoyable than others, however as it is a rotational placement even if you don't like a department you may only be in it for a few weeks. There are very few placements like this where you will get the opportunity to experience so many departments.
I thoroughly enjoyed the placement year, there were parts I enjoyed more than others which I took as a positive as the placement scheme allows for you to find what department and roles you most enjoy which is helpful when looking at future employment. There was a variety of roles and responsibilities that challenged me throughout the year making it very enjoyable.
The Lidl Placement scheme was perfect for me, as I went into the year not knowing what I want to do as a career. It is a rotational program with flexibility for you to try many different departments across the company. Although some of these departments I didn’t enjoy working in as much as others, it was still valuable due to the level of responsibility afforded to you. I still don’t really know what I want to do after uni, however this placement has made me realise that that doesn’t necessarily matter, because if you’re willing to learn and adapt you can succeed nearly anywhere
