It was an amazing experience. The 2 weeks went by so fast and I felt immersed in the firm and took in all the information that was thrown my way. I enjoyed the workshops the most because I had the opportunity to learn more about the core departments which compensated for the fact that I would not have had the time to have a seat in all of them during the vacation scheme.
My experience at BCLP has been brilliant. The graduate recruitment team is incredible and the selection process was well organised and transparent. The training sessions provided by the firm are thorough and substantial, providing all trainee solicitors with the tools they need to succeed on their tasks and feel more confident about the work they are doing. There is a healthy balance between office work, training, interesting talks and social events happening throughout the year, making your day-to-day a lot more interesting. The office has a very friendly attitude and everyone makes an effort to make you feel at ease from day one. I had the opportunity to learn from extremely talented individuals that dedicated their time to share their knowledge with me in a friendly and approachable manner. Overall, this was a very enjoyable experience.
I really enjoyed both my weeks at BCLP, particularly my seat in Restructuring and Insolvency which showed me the breadth of work a department like this gets involved with. I was challenged with a variety of new experiences that clearly showed me what it was like to be a trainee at a leading city firm.
I really enjoyed the vacation scheme. The workshops we attended provided great insight into the variety of work undertaken by the firm, including real estate disputes and transport finance. The sessions were interactive and fun. In addition, I was given quality and interesting work by the departments I sat in and the group projects gave us a chance to show our team working skills.
The vacation scheme was great. I thoroughly enjoyed it because it was jam-packed with workshops about the firm, the work of a trainee, the week ahead, and tips for the next stages in the application process; plus, time was spent in a seat and socialising with your group on the evenings. Everyone was so welcoming at BCLP.
It was a great experience both in terms of an insight into the firm (it's culture, values etc) as well as the work that the firm does. There were information sessions throughout the week regarding the structure of the firm, the work of specific departments and the overall strategy of the firm in general. The department that I sat in allowed me to get involved with some 'real' work, and I had first hand experience of drafting a letter and an agreement.
I really enjoyed the vacation scheme. It was very well structured, unexpectedly packed with lots of exciting talks and group activities. There wasn’t a moment to feel bored. The candidates on the scheme and people within the firm were really friendly which makes for the best working environment because everyone made an effort to get to know each other and worked well together. The candidates even socialised outside of firm-organised events with our buddies!
The graduate recruitment team were immediately welcoming and supportive from day one of the scheme, and were very enthusiastic about the firm and our success. I sat with the Investment Management practice and really enjoyed seeing lawyers working in action, learning more about the practice, work that BCLP does in this practice area, and getting to know the lawyers. Aside from this, we attended numerous practice area workshops, hearing from partners and associates around the firm and in different offices. I gained invaluable insight into the legal industry, the profession, the firm, its work and culture.
I enjoyed it a lot. Thought Human Resources were very open and honest about the application process and how we were assessed. I also really enjoyed the socials and thought they had been planned out really well, allowing us to get to know the other participants in the scheme.
The vac scheme gave a brilliant insight into life as a trainee at BCLP. Spending two weeks in two different departments gave me exposure to a variety of work and the opportunity to meet a variety of lawyers from all seniorities and paths into the career. Being buddied with a trainee, associate and partner in each department led to a really insightful experience and a port of call to answer all questions. This made for a really interesting couple of weeks.
An experience that was never dull, my vacation scheme was both challenging and enjoyable. Full of bespoke activities and opportunities to network with people at the firm, I was able to develop my skills as a lawyer in a very short amount of time which was very refreshing in a time where many internships can be narrow in scope.
I enjoyed the Insight Scheme because it gave me an opportunity to witness life in a City law firm, learn more about the key practice areas of BCLP and undertake real trainee tasks. I also got to gain an understanding of the culture the firm operates in and learn about the assessment process.
