I thought the insight day was fantastic. All aspects of the day were great for learning and development. Some of the day's itinuary included several rounds of a trading exercise, various talks from employees of all seniorities (these weren't as boring as it may sound - the speakers were very engaging), networking sessions, upskilling sessions.
I really enjoyed my internship with M&G plc. I didn't know what to expect with the virtual internship but I ended up really enjoying it and meeting a lot of great people through numerous online networking and workshop sessions. I also enjoyed learning about the asset management industry and the work that M&G plc does for its clients and the unique sectors it operates in. Overall, I had a great experience and felt like I could take away a lot from it.
As a technology intern, I was involved in a wide range of projects including projects that extended outside my team. I was involved in challenging and diverse work, in areas such as software engineering, testing, performance analysis and data science. These projects pushed me outside my comfort zone and allowed me to learn a lot in a short span of time (~5 weeks).
Really enjoyed my internship. I received a perfect mix of learning and practical experience. The work that I did indeed had a tangible impact on my team. I was guided throughout the process by my team, which was very helpful. The work itself was interesting and connected to the real world. By doing the work I had a chance to expand my knowledge and obtain new skill. I learned a lot from insight sessions and meetings with different people.
Overall I had a very good experience. Obviously there is room for improvement but I found my role very enjoyable. I was given a task to compete with a team and we were given freedom to choose what we did with it. There were times when the work was a bit boring and there was loads of admin to do but all roles are like this. I really feel like I was given the chance to shine.
I really enjoyed it. Everyone in the department I was in was very friendly and always willing to take the time to chat to me and show me what they do. I learnt a huge amount about cybersecurity and it has gone from something I knew very little about to a real consideration for my career. The company insisted on having the internship go ahead despite the pandemic, which was great. The only downside to working online was the limited socialising that can be done.
I really enjoyed my Internship within the ESG & Regulatory team - I was given the opportunity to carry out real and valued work within the team as well as insight into all the different areas of the business. The structure of the internship is great for meeting people and gaining exposure to different business areas.
I thoroughly enjoyed my summer internship at M&G. I interned within the Restructuring and Debt solutions team which provided me with exposure to scenarios and work streams I had previously never covered. I had not anticipated working within this team prior to the internship but I am certainly glad I did, it allowed me to gain experience across restructuring and understand the mechanics and though processes that drive these activities, alongside working with Debt funds where I was able to perform frequent credit analysis. The exposure to what normally would be two separate jobs, as my core mandate allowed me to learn a lot in a short space of time.
M&G's virtual internship was extremely enjoyable and impressively delivered considering the fact that there was a very limited preparation time for both the Long Term Talent Team and our line managers. Being placed in specific teams has meant I have been able to get on with real work and allowed me to delve into other business areas with a quick call on Skype or Microsoft Teams. It is clear that M&G has a positive, collaborative culture, which I have really enjoyed being a part of.
My internship at M&G was extremely enjoyable, despite being completed remotely. Contact beforehand from HR was regular and helpful. Everyone I reached out to seemed keen to talk, despite being busy, and almost always offered to send over further information or arrange a follow up call. I found the work itself extremely interesting and varied, and, being remote, I was able to attend international meetings that I otherwise wouldn't have been invited to. Overall a really positive experience where I always looked forward to the next day.
I really enjoyed, it was above expectations. Despite the fact that internship was virtual, I learned a lot, did tangible work, and had I chance to interact with my colleagues. Everything was very well organized in advance. I liked the work that I was doing because it involved a direct application of my knowledge in practice.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic my internship at M&G was virtual. They sent me a surface pro to use during my time and the internship was run via video calls and emails from home. I thought it was very good of the company to be able to adapt to this so quickly and keep it running rather than cancelling, which I think says a lot about the culture at M&G. Just due to the virtual nature, it wasn't as exciting as being in the office would have been, but there was definitely a lot of thought put in to the sessions they provided us and how the structure of the shortened (5 weeks from 8 weeks) internship would run. The virtual socials were a nice chance to get to know the other interns and insight sessions from senior people in the business gave a good overview of the whole business.
The insight day at M&GPrudential was extremely valuable and enjoyable. I found it highly informative, as it gave unique insights into the selection process and the key features of large divisions at M&GPrudential. The event was also engaging, by involving us in an investment game and giving us the opportunity to network with employees of M&GPrudential and the HR. It was definitely the most useful insight day I have attended.
