The Morgan Stanley insight day, aimed at A-Level students, was a fantastic first insight into the world of banking. Especially being at the start of my career, it was important to have such an insight to gain additional clarity about what a career in banking might entail, what the different divisions in the bank do, and which programs Morgan Stanley had available to apply for, and the path to a full-time job with the firm.
I really enjoyed the whole internship experience, even though it was completely virtual and it was the first time Morgan Stanley had run a virtual internship. It was clear that a lot of thought and effort had gone in to organising the internship so the interns got a lot out of it, and I feel like I learnt a huge amount and got to meet some great people. Overall I absolutely loved the whole experience.
It was a qualitative internship with some real beneficial work experience. The employees were really friendly and was able to ensure that I maximised the opportunities I could grab during my internship. Even though it was conducted through a virtual environment it was handled very well and run smoothly. The intern events were especially beneficial with plenty of webinars with senior management across the world and fun social events to interact with the other interns across divisions and offices across the world. The volunteering aspect was also really fun and a great way to bond with the other interns whilst giving back to the community.
Overall, I found this experience extremely enjoyable. The HR and recruitment team made the virtual experience seamless, and the opportunities to network and interact with the wider team were readily available. I personally felt extremely connected to my team and fellow interns, and found the role engaging for the 7 weeks. If anyone was considering a virtual placement with Morgan Stanley, I would highly recommend they pursue it or any other opportunities with such a excellent firm.
I really enjoyed my virtual internship at Morgan Stanley! Even virtually I found that I was part of the team and was really warmly welcomed, because of this I feel I still got to be immersed into the culture of Morgan Stanley as well. The only slightly negative aspect was because it was not virtually I did not get to do everything that I would have if I internship had gone ahead the usual way.
I have honestly enjoyed my internship. It was virtual due to the Covid-19 outbreak. However, everyone from HR, the senior members of Morgan Stanley, the employees were very involved and interested in our work and progress. I have learned a lot about the business, as well as the technology. I felt very accepted and respected, and free to develop and be a part of real teams. The internship was very successful, taking into consideration that almost everyone was working remotely.
It greatly exceeded my expectations. Everyone I met was so helpful and all the events were engaging and insightful. The work was very enjoyable and I could see how innovative the technology within the firm was whether bespoke or outsourced through my few weeks. Although I would have loved to be in the office and met my team in person I was really happy with the amount I learnt. All in all it was one of my favourite experiences!
I really enjoyed my internship - it was a very valuable experience that allowed me to learn a lot. At the same time, it confirmed my initial objective to have a long term career in banking. The programme was also very well structured and allowed me to work on different projects, across staffing, individual and group projects. Overall, I can only recommend this internship to everyone and I hope that Morgan Stanley is able to deliver the same quality to future summer analysts.
I thoroughly enjoyed my virtual internship. The team took time to ensure I was introduced to everyone and settled in. I was given slides with details about my teams operations that helped me understand my role. My manager and buddy shared their experience and were available during the work day if I required additional assistance with tasks that I was assigned. I had the opportunity to speak to senior members within Morgan Stanley and learn more about the careers.
Given the circumstances, I found the programme very enjoyable. Initially adapting to working virtually was a challenge, but the whole Summer was run so well that any initial concerns were quickly ironed out. Having come through 7 weeks of working virtually, I still feel as though I have been given a great insight into Morgan Stanley and its people.
I loved my internship over the summer. I learned so much, more than I would have expected. Due to the circumstances of coronavirus, the internship was virtual and was shortened to 7 weeks but over the 7 weeks we were given extensive exposure to high ranking individuals in the business and received quality training on the processes involved in the role. I found everything extremely interesting and engaging and thoroughly enjoyed my time. I was motivated and driven by the team, who were very welcoming from the beginning. The culture of the firm was evident even from the application stage and I have so much praise from my experience.
The internship was a very enjoyable experience. The people that I met were friendly and included me in the team with ease. The work was challenging and completing it gave me a feeling of accomplishment. The internship was a great learning experience, I improved my technical skills and got to learn more about the business. The talks and webinars that were set up for the interns were also very interesting and made me understand the culture of the firm better.
The experience far exceeded my expectations! Prior to starting my virtual internship I was a bit apprehensive and nervous because I had never experienced any form of remote working or an internship. However, I shouldn't have worried because Morgan Stanley organised a fantastic programme with a variety of sessions to get involved within! Throughout the summer, I was able to attend networking events which allowed me to build relationships with individuals across all levels of the firm. I also got to listen to many inspiring talks from senior members of the firm - i.e. James Gorman and Carla Harris. I also got to attend different social events specifically organised for the interns and industrial placements; due to the virtual platform we got to network with individuals across many different locations. Overall, this experience was highly positive and rewarding and has equipped me with key skills which I can take forward into the future.
The internship, while virtual, exceeded all expectations. There were events held in the lead up to introduce us to the company and senior speaker series throughout to gives us a wider view of the firm. Day to day, the company made sure to offer support and I thoroughly enjoyed my time with the team I was allocated. The work I was given was meaningful and I felt responsible which was really motivating. Overall, I could not rate it higher.
