This role involved working with the EIA department to conduct audits across various divisions. As part of the 3-stage audit process, I supported the risk and control identification and assessment process, the write-up of overview documents, and conducted stakeholder meetings. In addition, I supported teams in regulatory mapping, issue validations and ICAAP pieces.
I was an intern on the Commodity Structured Trade Finance team. On a daily basis, I have been able to gain a deep understanding of credit analysis as well as exposure to clients in the commodities space. As a summer analyst, I have studied financial statements of clients to draw conclusions. I have been able to get involved in client meetings which has helped me understand how MUFG can help their clients. MUFG has a huge focus on ESG so I have helped out in some ESG related projects. Overall, every day is interesting!
I work within the Structured Solutions - helping with research risks of shares within well known companies. I have had to give a macro summary of US and Asian markets twice weekly. I have had to do lots of excel work including reports that are sent out weekly. I have had to work with VBA macros and submitted prices daily.
My role involves assisting the IDM team with the management of financial trades, ensuring they go through the various middleware the bank utilises and there are no breaks in the trade from execution to settlement. I also work on the analysis of how well the various Data streams are being used and I have a project which I am working on as well.

Alongside daily tasks on your desk you have exposure to the general bank through training in financial markets and projects based around macroeconomics.
The event is very informative and gave students a lot of opportunities to interact with employees within MUFG and students also had the chance to participate in group exercise and deliver a short presentation to one of the business representatives after discussion. I would guess this activity mirrors what is likely to happen during the virtual assessment centre. In addition, all the business reps are super helpful and gave good advice to students and encourage them to start a career in banking.
