    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • My knowledge of Sales and Trading has increased exponentially since being on the trade floor and learning from talented individuals in the industry. The skills you learn on an internship are invaluable and there's nowhere else you can gain similar experience. There's only so much you can learn from google! The internship has taught me skills that I will continue to use throughout my career, and MUFG has encouraged personal development throughout.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • MUFG has a great culture and atmosphere. On the trading floor there is a non-hierarchical, flat structure. This is an excellent opportunity for new starters in the industry to learn from all experience levels from Analysts up to Managing Directors. Everyone is very welcoming and friendly, and something that stood out for me is that everyone wants to see you succeed.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • The internship is very challenging and intense but this is what helps you to develop both technical and personal skills. I have learned more in the last 10 weeks than I ever have. It has solidified my interest in a trading career and I have developed an extensive network with professionals in the industry. I have deepened my understanding of how large banks operate and have had the opportunity to shadow multiple teams and departments throughout MUFG. As well as this HR organised social and CSR events throughout which was a great opportunity to interact with other interns outside of work in a more relaxed environment.

  • 7. Would you recommend MUFG to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to MUFG
  • The recruitment process is tough. Make sure you get your application in early. Complete all numerical and verbal tests to a high standard. In interviews be yourself. Through speaking to staff they all say to let your personality shine through in interviews, discuss things you're passionate about and try to be unique. The biggest advice I have got over the course of my internship is to be inquisitive. MUFG don't expect you to know your technical knowledge inside out, however, they want to see you are motivated and curious to learn more. Ask lots of questions!
