Placement (10 Months+)

What made you want to join Volkswagen Financial Services?

Our Hybrid Working policy and the flexibility it allows was something very appealing when I applied. Our strong Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Policy, as well as being named a Great Place to Work in 2023. VWFS is also named as one of the UK’s Best Workplaces for Women, so this initially attracted me to the company.

What are the highlights of your placement so far?

I would definitely say one of the highlights so far is getting to meet such a diverse range of individuals to network and socialise with. I have also really enjoyed delving deeper into all things diversity, equity and inclusion, as this is a big responsibility within my role and something I am very passionate about.

How would you describe the culture at VWFS?

Everyone at VWFS is very approachable, friendly and always willing to help. You are treated equally and valued as an individual and an important employee, despite being such a large organisation. There is a massive focus on learning and development and a relaxed working environment.

What do you do on a day to day basis within your role?

Every day is different and fast-paced in my role. I regularly report on disciplinary statistics, reasons for absence, sickness etc as well as building and monitoring surveys to support employee engagement. I work closely with the community committee, focusing on how employees can volunteer in the local community. I also work closely with the diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives that are implemented in the business.

What advice would you give to a student following in your footsteps?

I would advise a student starting my role to develop excel reporting skills and research how companies have implemented DEI initiatives into their business. Volunteer yourself for as much as you possibly can and always ask for help if you are unsure.
