What made you want to join Volkswagen Financial Services?

VWFS is a company that is so diverse due to the wide range of brands under the VWG portfolio. Because of this there is so much to learn, especially within the department of brand management. As you get to see how the each brand operates and the distinguishing factors of their operations. VWFS have also been names as one of the best student employers, which I can confirm is true and is another incentive to apply!

What are the highlights of your placement so far?

One of my personal highlights is seeing the volume of communications I have been able to produce which go live to the retailer network at Quarter Launch. Every quarter is incredibly busy, but what I like about my placement is that the work I produce matters and it engages me! I am made to feel equal to the rest of my team as opposed to being designated to do aimless tasks, which is something I value.

How would you describe the culture at VWFS?

The culture at VWFS is incredibly inclusive! There is a lot of emphasis on your own personal development which I think is really important especially as a student. I have found the culture to be one that encourages you to grow and not shy away from things that will widen the breadth and depth of your knowledge.

What do you do on a day to day basis within your role?

My busiest days are during the weeks leading up to and following Quarter launch. A period in which we launch all our newly live national finance offers for the quarter. During this period I focus on creating the comms packages that go out to our internal and external stakeholders. These communications detail our Aftersales offers as well as Campaign information and T&Cs. On a day to day basis, I ultimately support the Campaign Development Executives. This varies and on some days entails completing reporting tasks which provide insight into campaign performance and highlight any campaign issues. I also engage in a lot of stakeholder management which enables and eases the cohesion and collaboration of all teams.

What advice would you give to a student following in your footsteps?

Be confident and don’t sell yourself short! You may not have a bank of knowledge regarding VWFS but be sure to research as much as you can! It’s a learning experience, and the best way to shape it into what you want it to be is by not being afraid to ask the questions, give your input and put forward your initiatives where appropriate. You will thank yourself for it in the end and so will your colleagues!
