    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The application process involved a online form with competency based questions, some basic tests, a telephone interview and a full-day assessment centre (in rural Hertfordshire, only way to get there was by car or taxi). Three weeks before the start date we had a reallocation event with information about different areas. This year the interns were distributed mainly between the Cehshunt and Welwyn Garden City offices, but form next year onwards the Cheshunt office will move to Welwyn as well. I and all other Technology interns were based in Welwyn (with one Intern part time in London). There are regular shuttles available from Welwyn Garden City Railway Station and the Tesco/F&F offices in Cheshunt/Hatfield. Commuting from North London (Seven Sisters area) took around 45 minutes door-to-door. My 10 week placement gave me insights into lots of different areas within Tesco. Outside the Technology office we had a two day store placement, a visit to the Customer Engagement Centre in Cardiff, visits to a Flagship store, Online Fulfillment Centre, Data Centre, and the Technology office in London.
