    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I wasn't placed in a team I was expecting to be placed in. I had expected a much more financial risk orientated team but instead was but into technology risk which required a lot of technology knowledge which I did not have.

    3/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The team was very friendly and helped me when needed. However, as they were very busy I was often left alone.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Plenty of support from my line manager. They gave me a lot of stuff to do including individual projects as well as shadowing days.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • It varied a lot. When I had all my project deadlines coming up I was very busy and had to stay late a couple of times. Once I had finished these I had little to do and spent the day flicking through papers.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • A fair amount. Nothing that was critical but work that needed to be done on time otherwise itwould hold up a manager meeting a deadline etc.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • As I was put in a technology based division it had no relation to my degree or anything that I want to do in the future, so I gained very little.

    1/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Very friendly when everyone speaks and there was some great bantor. However, when we were working there was little.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • My manger and mentor were excellent at giving me work. As for HR - they didnt tell me my location until 3 weeks before; the induction week we had could've lasted a day but there was a lot of pointless activities and the end of intern event was poor and a waste of time.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • They set many targets for personal development. However, there was little investment into training.

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    National Travel

    2/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Pretty poor as the business is on the edge of collapse.

    2/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Plenty of drink events and banter.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • As a city it was fairly cheap but due to the sheer volume of events it became costly.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Carnage

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Not a lot, although there were some clubs, they werent promoted to us

    2/5
