    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I have really enjoyed my placement and have had the opportunity to further my experiences I gained on my placement year with Costain. The job has been really interesting. my main critism is the atmosphere in the office has not been as fun as in previous placements.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My line manager was always willing to help me complete tasks and answer my questions. She would always dedicate time to help me complete the additional placements tasks Costain set.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I had a busy schedule but I enjoyed this as it has meant I haven't been bored. The main struggle was when members of the team were on annual leave - but this is expected.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I feel like i was given enough responsibility to help me develop within my role without feeling overloaded.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills I have learnt will definitely help me if I secure a site engineers role when I graduate. The project management skills I have developed will definitely help me to complete my group dissertation next year.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere was dull at times but this was mainly due to the small number of people in the office. Additionally there were two site offices - the other site office had a funner atmosphere.

    2/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The placement was well set up, although it took a while for the company to send through the contract details. My first day went well although i did not have a computer for the first week of my job.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The placement was only ten weeks and there was therefore not much time to book training. However on my placement year i attended a large variety of training courses.

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Travel loan

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There was only one other palcement student, we went for lunch a couple of times but this was hard as he was based in another office. I went for meals with the site team a couple of times which was a good way to meet different members of the site team
