The Role
Savills provided a welcoming environment, with lots of support available and plent of opportunites for networking and career advice. Talks were provided on all aspects of the company as well as information on the graduate recruitment scheme and the APC.
The team i worked with were brilliant. Everyone was welcoming, supportive and happy to involve me in their work and provide me with useful information to help me in my studies. I was invited regularly to social events which made me feel part accepted and part of the team. I could not fault them!
Whenever guidance was needed it was available and was contructive and informative.
When taken out on site i was introduced to everyone and made to feel very involved, so this was the perfect balance. At times in the office i was without much to do, but this was rare and understandable given the busy nature of directors.
I was given work that i was able to complete without too much assistance, which meant that i was not under huge pressure and unable to cope. Without being professionally qualified there was a limited amount to what i could do, so the work provided was suitable to my current levels of competence.
This placement has really cemented what i have learnt at University, and given me the opportunity to apply academic knowledge to a more practical side. I have learnt how to lay out reports and take schedules which will be invaluable skills for my future career.
The Company
At times the office was quiet due to the level of work people have to do and that people were often in and out of the office. However as a professional environment this was as expected. Social events that i attended more than made up for this.
The HT department did an excellent job of organising the placement, with plenty of information provided and social and networking events for us to attend. It is clear that the Savills summer scheme is a well run and effective method of finding gradutates to recruit.
I learnt alot during this placement and everyone was keen to give me any information i asked for.
Company Parties/Events
Savills is defintely a company i would be happy to work for, and will be apply for their graduate scheme when it comes around.
The Culture
After work drinks were a regular occurance as well as events set up by the HR department running the summer scheme.
I did not live in the area but the cost of living was high compared to University prices that i am used to. However being in the City of London this was expected and it was a case of being prepared and taking in a packed lunch!
As i had a long commute i never stayed in the City past 9 oclock. However i dont think there is a huge amount of nigtlife in The City.
After work drinks were a regular occurance and we were invited to the annual charity cricket match and auction which was held in a very exclusive country club and was a great evening.
