    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Doing a placement year was an eye opening experience. It gave me the opportunity to gain insight into how a business was run, the day to day activities and the chance to head up my own project.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt particularly valued by the colleagues that I worked closely with. Sadly some colleagues were slow to reply to emails, for example, and I got the impression it was because I was "only a placement student."

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My supervisor has given brilliant guidance throughout the year and I have been very fortunate to have a manager who was willing to put a lot of time and effort in to ensure I got the most out of placement in general - not just to come and finish a project.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Day to day work varied a lot for me. I was based in a GMP area so the training was extensive and therefore it took a long time for me to get going with my project. Some days were hectic and others I felt I had little to do.

    2/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • For my own project, I was essentially given full responsibility and I took it upon myself to become involved with other activities and events and lead the organising of these for anything we did as a group of placement students.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills I've developed this year could not have been learnt at Uni - everything from professionalism to time management to general knowledge of mine is so much greater after this year than before.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Everyone was there to do their job and that was about it.

    1/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Some aspects were brilliant but I felt a lot of it was self-motivated.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I was trained to GMP standards and held personal review meetings with my supervisor.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Financial Bonus

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I've enjoyed the placement but sadly location is not ideal.

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • It was self motivated, but we put together a good social scene.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • More expensive than home (lived down south for a year!) but we got a bargain with the house we stayed in.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • You tended to have to travel for Nightlife!

    1/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • What you put in, you got out.

    3/5
